billt Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 tis a very good post by Owen , dont agree with all , but accept his views. Bill T , your view "shocks me" my friend to be honest ?? You sound like my wife Andy I meant we have families with generations of thieves and worse but we never intervene in their reproduction but when it's a dog or other animal we all have views on the subject

GhEtToStar Posted March 3, 2012 Report Posted March 3, 2012 i dont think dogs fighting is due to inbreeding the owners are to blame that aggresion train there dogs to fight and killing livestock is not due to inbreeding either dogs are natural hunters and again its down to the owners not schooling these dogs around live stock

Guest Owen Posted March 3, 2012 Report Posted March 3, 2012 The reason I believe that some breeds of dogs are bred to be unhinged is because dogs are basically a pack animals and will naturally establish a social structure in much the same way that wolves do. There has to be leaders and led and they intimidate one another to maintain the rankings but they do not fight to injure each other or kill a members of the pack. The strength of the pack is that they hunt for food together and co-operate so that they can give themselves the best chance of success. To kill or maim members of the pack would not make any sense in terms of the welfare of the pack. Most members of the dog breeds will behave like the wolves, especially the hound breeds who live together in large groups without much trouble. You can see much the same thing in Huskies were they decide the rankings and follow their selected leaders. I ran and trained Border Collies at one time which meant that we had dogs of all ages living with us and apart from the occasional flare up the dogs lived together without attacking each other all the time. In human terms there are people born to be violent and would kill if they were left to do what they want. We humans stop that sort of thing by locking them up once we know that these individuals are not safe to be free amongst us. Can you imagine what would happen if these people with violent tendencies were allowed to breed with one another generation after generation. I think that some dog breeders have done exactly that and the result is running about on the streets of the World ready to take on all comers. Only this week when I was driving the delivery van I saw a young girl with a terrier on a lead being attacked by a Bull type of dog. The girl was terrified and was trying to swing her dog up into her arm by swinging her dog on the lead by the neck. I stopped the van and went to her assistance by picking her terrier up out of reach of the attacker. The Bull type dog was not going to give in that easy so I had quite a job to get it to stop and I reckon that both me and the girl were lucky not be bitten. I think this nasty dog was probably from one of the houses near where the incident took place but there was no sign of anyone with him. I am sorry to say it but I think that many of these creatures are born nut cases which is fine for those who want to keep them providing that they are not allowed to create havoc for others.
