noticed one off my yearling hens has had her end flight damaged .looks like its happened when it was just through the wing , she was on the darkness last year and the last flights were thrown start off dec . she has a stump left on the end off the wing .will this affect her ? I ve heard off fanciers pulling out the damaged flights to get them to come back in . Is this a good idea ?

Thats a tricky one. The bird won't moult the damaged flight till December 2012. No10 does seem to have quite an affect on the bird's flying ability, but the flight is anchored in a single small bone which could be damaged if you try to pull it. I have heard of repairs being done using an old flight, glue and a small needle, but I don't think your stump will be big enough for that. Sounds to me like the bird will need to sit this year out.
