Funny old thing this feeding game, we spend a lot of money on additives and supplements yet the wildlings migrate thousands of miles every year on what they pick up on the fields or in the air, and do I join in, of course I do

do u know thats right billt really we should give them nowt.

I've always made a form of 'Old Hand's Boost', pinhead oatmeal with Cod Liver Oil, Calcium, Brewers Yeast, Multivits & any other powdered supplement I have at the time, the birds seem to enjoy it and I have fun mixing it. Does it do the birds any good?, well it hasn't got any harmful substances, and I feel I'm achieving something, so that's all that matters really.

having read the thread about "Hormoform" still cant see a "how to" ie 1 tablespoon of this and 2 teaspoon of that etc to make it and save myself some money .is pin head oatmeal by itself beneficial to the birds ??

Andy, here's an update of what I'd posted years ago on what was in hormoform :-

Harkers Hormoform

The calculated typical analysis of Hormoform is:-

fibre 1.8%

ash 13%

vit A 18000 IUs/kg*

vit D3 5000 IUs/kg*

vit E 75 IUs/kg*

*explanation of measures:-

Vitamin A: 1 IU [international unit] is the biological equivalent of 0.3 micrograms [one millionth of a gram] of retinol, or 0.6 micrograms of beta-carotene

Vitamin D: 1 IU is the biological equivalent of 0.025 micrograms of cholecalciferol / ergocalciferol

Vitamin E: 1 IU is the biological equivalent of about 0.667 milligrams [One thousandth of a gram] of d-alpha-tocopherol (2/3 mg exactly), or 1 milligram of dl-alpha-tocopherol acetate

The nutrients contained in Hormoform include:

Vitamins
