Fors And Against Stall Traps

Could anyone offer there opinions on stall traps as I am considering installing these forms of traps.

If your using rubbers then its a good way to time them in on a Saturday, if you use ETS i think they are unnecessary. jmo

used stall traps before ETs and i thought they were a good way of timing but you still had to touch the bird to remove the rubbers and some young birds got trap shy,Ets means you do not have to touch any birds and that is greatly beneficial with young birds in particular which is the main reason we swapped over

In London and Essex we do not have the facilities for ETS as many are against it, A few members in one fed went ETS but when fed secretary said that they would resign they went back to the rubber way, I can't see it happening down here for a while if I am honest. Is there a way that you can keep the stalls open till the birds get used to going through them?

Yes, they are open all the time.... you close them only on race days.

Yes they still get 'Trap Shy' and soon start to turn out and escape - or at least try to when you approach. Many master it.

Guess it is a big improvement from going into the loft and catch them... but they get just as wiley avia trap use.

Think personally I'd only use them on certain races that count to you... Me, well personally the shorter races as longer birds timing isn't often as essential.

why not let them resign, you can't have people holding you to ransom, JMO

i wouldnt want to go ets fella, but i am all for other people using it, its just takes the fun out of pigeon racing for myself personally, but what i have seen of ets up north its a great system, and a good friend of mine constantly spoke of its praise.

i had the galvanised metal ones before i went to ets and these are the ones i would reccomend someone say's in an earlier post that their birds have turned and came back out i never had that once with these pre-assembled metal ones because they were deep,i used to find that my young birds were a bit trap shy but found out that was because it was too dark inside the loft,once i put a window in the trapping end no problems

Do you feel it would be an advantage that they were trapping into an aviary?

don't see why not,nice and light and also they've got the benefit of seeing other birds at ease in the aviary,the birds in the aviary could also be kept hungry therefore throwing a handfull of seed onto the aviary floor would further help to entice the race bird in
