Guest stevie-b Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 I notice from the race program that the BBC has a charity race from Fougeres in early July. That will be a nice distance into central Scotland - around 500-520 miles. Unfortunately it is likely to clash with an SNFC weekend (subject to the race program being set). Maybe the SNFC could joint convoy with them ? Later in July they have a race from Bordeaux which could be an option for those wanting to try something a bit further. It comes after the SNFC programme ends and will be about 775 miles to central Scotland. I think I'd be more inclined to try that one than to try Barcelona as it would still just about be a race at that distance rather than just an endurance test.think it would be a great idea for snfc to try this for there longest race would cut costs plus alot more pigeons arriving in uk at the same time plus costs should be better

Guest jim lad Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 im sure a guy in overtown clydeside raced pigeons out of barcalona and holds the scottish record i think it was archie walker but not sure of the name
just ask me Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 Don't think you can train a bird for that distance, they need to be fit, yes, but they have to be bred to have that mileage in them agree and i would not think there too many that could do it and be a brave man to sent one
