There is a proposal to do this and it looks like a reasonable option/

The only drawback is the early race points.

in wot way is it a drawback sesone to early or the race points themself

the only drawback with going with the big fed in early races would be the total drag o birds to east side of our fed ,after 200mls it would be nae problem

did yous not race down the east the last couple of years by racing down the west your birds will have a better line of flyt

we change route a few years back ,couild be about 10 now ,becouse o heavy losses early doors threw massive peregrine strikes witnessed by border fed fanciers, they were costantly returning birds back up to us ,exspecially y birds ,the birds could not even get a chance to clear!couple years ago we tried locharbriggs again and was a disaster,i never sent myself, keeping clear o that area is the only answer

Yes racing down the west gives a true line of flight without conceding double overfly to the coast members.

When the federation changed route they were persuaded to do so because of hawk strikes.

These can happen anywhere now so it is logical to give the west route a try.

Unfortunately the race point chosen for the first race is Lockerbie and the second is Carlisle.

My personal preference would be to have 2 races on a relatively "safe route" to build fitness and confidence then jump into Appleby and thereafter follow the conventional M6 ROUTE.

As has been posted on here previously we should all be doing our bit in winter to secure this natural route.

i fully support the idea of catching the west route further down the road, personally anything over 200mls wont make one bit o difference whether east or west there is no advantage, althought where wind direction comes to favour now thats another debate!

My view for what its worth would be the proposal to go down the west route , maybe with a few amendments here and there but westerly all the same,

Are the BOP more prevelant on the west?

going with Lanarkshire and/or any other west coast fed should be a must for Ayrshire at the later races, for what its worth I think we should be going with Lanarkshire every week from 200 miles onwards.

i dont think any decent fancier would disagree that the more the better when it comes to liberation day,i would have every fed in our area together if where possible ,im trying not to forget the real issue here, staying clear of real black spot race points ,yes it is a well known fact that bop nos are higher in the west something that i cammeron of lincoln ex ayrshire fancier spent a lot of time investigating for us in ayrshire a few years back ,i do think we all know that the safety of our birds is paramount and not personal agendas to suit the minorty which is sadly open in our sport in all levels of competition, our federation has never seen national results in these nos for many a year only emphasising that big liberations do work ,we cant take steps back and try and go alone !!
