I was 17 years in the pub/club business and its been dying a slow death since the eighties. Great to see the couple doing well with your local Mick but its January to May they have to survive, you'll see a HUGE difference in how busy it is in those months. I wish the owners a Roaring success but experience tells me it'll be a long hard road for them.

Good point john, what's helping just now is there's loads of guys staying in the town who are working on the massive little Clyde wind-farm although it has a few years to run plus the other-one next to it is in planning,so by the time there through the couple will be loaded :emoticon-0157-sun:

lots of pubs in the Didsbury area are empty through the week but 3 years ago it was like Manchester City centre every night. With 2 Tesco stores within 1/2 a mile selling 48 cans for £25 what brewery can compete with that.. I would never have a drink at home a few years ago but its too expensive to go to the local... the brewery's are taxed to the hilt

still very busy, there are loads of walkers that come from all over the place to the peak district but most nights it is advisable to book if you want a meal there,weather-wise it is no worse than anywhere else and there are plenty nice holiday cottages at very reasonable rates. :egyptian:
