when my birds had one eyed cold i heard all kinds of wierd and wonderful ways of curing it, dont waste your time and effort with these, just go to the chemist and buy some optrex eye drops for infected eyes, which is used for conjunctivitis...............give one drop twice a day for 7 days, but you will see an improvement within approx 3 days depending on how long the bird has had it.

hope this helps.

depends how long you want treatment to last for...i personally would use chloramphenicol..which is easily got from the docs ..just ask for eye drops for hayfever..1 drop a day on the affected eye..improvement in hours..gone within 2 days.

If you have one eyed cold you have a big problem with your loft or else you have overcrowded the birds. No amount of chemical cures will put this right. You need to get your hammer and saw out and alter the loft to provide your birds with proper ventilation. All birds require plenty of oxygen to stay healthy because they have a totally differant respiritory system to mamals. Failure to do this will result in a succession of illnesses.

2ml of baytril to 1 ltr of water for 3 days problem solved ,but got to agree with Owen if ventilation is ok and no overcrowding should not encounter the problem .Good Luck . ps if using baytril it must be along with the water measured spot on otherwise dangerous stuff .

I still say that you are making a big mistake giving your pigeons antibiotics. You will know if your birds fly well and win races, you will also know if your birds have shown signs of respiratory problems in the past. If you are having to treat your birds and you are not winning races regardless of how you think your loft is built, you need to look hard at the ventilation. There is no excuse for pigeons suffering with respiratory ailments. If as you seem to be saying it is single bird that is being bullied, it is obvious that the bird is unable to hold it's own in your loft. In that case I reckon you would be better off without it.
