Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 Has any one else heard the rumors of rspb trying to get racing banded due to bop being killed?

Guest IB Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 Not aware of this. There has already been a petition before the Scottish Parliament to ban racing pigeons:- John Ferguson Petition to Scottish Parliament. 23/7/07 Racing Pigeons (Public Health) (PE1068) PE1068, from John Ferguson, calls on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Executive to investigate the public health risks associated with racing pigeons and to introduce measures to ensure that racing pigeon lofts are not situated within residential areas and that owners are made responsible for dirt, damage and public disease. The petition was dismissed. The evidence the Committee collected was very positive for pigeon fanciers everywhere as public health authorities said there was no health risk to public associated with keeping racing pigeons.
sammy Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 they can try and ban racing all they want but they cant stop you from keeping pigeons and no matter what they will allways find dead bop it always amazes me how they find dead bop about that have been poisoned when there is that many HOOVERS about to mop them up next time yir on motorway look along edges of road and see how many BUZZARDS that are lying dead hit by CARS dont hear rspb saying much about that but plenty gets said about so called poisoned wans which is all part of there PROPAGANDA (lies)
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 Yeah its going across other forums about it, that they are trying to ban it due to the poisoning also the thing about public health too!
just ask me Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 Yeah its going across other forums about it, that they are trying to ban it due to the poisoning also the thing about public health too! i did hear a rumor ok that there trying to get something bought in on public health grounds only be allowed on allotments etc cant see it happen myself how would they compensate the pigeon men and women and who to say how much each bird costs
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 how can they get it moved though, surely its some sort of traditional right? like long lining for fish on cornish beaches by cornish people?
OLDYELLOW Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 Pigeon keeping / racing wont ever get banned as they'd be in European courts over human rights , my birds are my family grown up with them all my life , would love to know how they'd change that besides if had to give up the birds i'd go clay shooting without the clays
Guest IB Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 Wouldn't surprise me if this is just a bit of scaremongering to stir up anti-RSPB feeling amongst pigeon fanciers. It makes no sense, what about other pets like dogs & cats, budgies & canaries? Can't have a ban on one, and not others. Devolved Government also means Public Health is a matter for each Parliament / Assembly. There could not be a UK-wide blanket ban. The Scottish body that tracks wildlife crime is SASA, a Scottish Government Department. Haven't looked for a while, but there is nothing in their reports linking poisonings with pigeons fanciers, or with pigeons for that matter. So the twin reasons behind such a ban - poisonings & public health - have no credibility in Scotland.
