Guest louisemulligan@blueyonder. Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 We have a tagged pigeon which comes frequently into our garden (we live in Edinburgh), which we have been feeding. It looks in very good health. I have managed to read the following information from its leg tags – 1483107 NL 2010.

Lindsay.

The jannie Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 guys i went to louises house to try and catch bird no luck . I have left box set up with stick and stringfor louise to try.Bird has black ets and pink race rubber so I am thinking it has been at a channel race.Would andy garven still have marking lists for birds entered a long shot i know.
Guest Louise Posted July 12, 2011 Report Posted July 12, 2011 Just received an email from a club in Holland to say that pigeon originates from a village in Holland called Huizen. Have passed on my contact details to see if the owner wants the bird back. Unfortunately no luck in catching the bird with the box so would be grateful if Brian could get in touch via email louisemulligan@blueyonder.co.uk re catching/looking after the bird in the hope the owner gets in touch.
Guest IB Posted July 12, 2011 Report Posted July 12, 2011 A more reliable system for trapping a pigeon: a box turned on its side with open end partly covered with a grill or wire mesh, leaving just enough room for the bird to get in at one end only. Put food down in the corner at the opposite end from the open end. When the bird enters let it go to the far end and start eating. Then close off the open end. Hope this helps.
Guest Louise Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 Just got an email from someone who contacted the owner in Holland. He he lost this pigeon as a youngster in 2010. Therefore he’s not interested in getting the pigeon back on his loft, because the bird will fly away again. He’s sure the pigeon can survive all by himself as he did the passed year.
Guest Louise Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 Received a letter this morning from Holland, asking if I wish to take over ownership of the pigeon in my garden, since the owner no longer wants it. Is anyone interested in taking the pigeon? Louise
bobo Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 I'd take it,have you caught it yet? If not i'd have a go at catching it. Could make a trap no problem.
