billt Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 worse than falcons i believe http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature/collections/p00bf3g7#p00gn1ydI watched it when televised, amazing, I think Percy is a pussy-cat in comparison, I had a male last year had 4 birds in 9 days, he had no fear at all, chasing the birds around the farm buildings, they were terrified diving for cover behind anything available, I've got a hen here at the moment, not seen it catch yet but I am 2 ybs. missing, She chases in the air and splits the birds just like percy, I've seen plenty here over the years but not had one be so persistent when in the air, must see if I can pursuade her to leave

Guest bakes Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 goshawk worse then percy sparrow hawk combined they take birds off ground and in air ive seen one rip threw fur tree over woods to me after squirrel big powerful birds. all best.
Guest Owen Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 There is no doubt that the Gos is a very dangerous BOP to have near but they have their weaknesses. The will become fixated on their prey and are very determined to get what they want and will not be driven off their prey easilly. A bit like the Spar but more. This obviously means that they can be trapped or shot if they become a nuisance. They are always very prepared to take domestic livestock and pets which will cause the general public to become anti them.My opinion is that the worst BOP to deal with is still the Peregrine because they are so much out of reach. However, these days I keep rockets ready to fire when my youngsters are out which has been very good at driving them away from the area. They hate rockets banging near them and clear off straight away.
