Pigeonmumbler Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Oh Well, Lost 6 birds. I let them out for the First Time Yesterday, a total of 34, To my surprise these darn birds all jetted to the sky every which way. I got 14 back in last night and 15 today, I woke up at the crack of dawn today and 3 where already on the Coop, the others just came in one at a time, the last one landed around 7pm. I’m missing 6, The hawks got two and the Others are MIA. Wow 15 out all night, they where sure happy to land and have a little feed & drink. One thing I did notice that these Tippers & Tumblers & Dutch Whitesides sure are a Spunky Bunch. Maybe tomorrow I’ll get another 1 or 2 Who Knows…?
grizzal Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 i hope you get the others back m8,and yes the hawks are a pain lets hope they dont get anymore
Guest IB Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Always a nervous time letting birds out for the first time. I don't think there is any 'right and wrong' way to do it, e.g a few birds each day or all of them at same time. Hope your missing birds work back OK. Putting those that did come back OK stay out awhile will also help attract them down.
OLDYELLOW Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Welcome to Pigeon Basics Pigeonmumbler we hope you enjoy the site
Pigeonmumbler Posted April 14, 2011 Author Report Posted April 14, 2011 Thank you for the Welcome, I’m glad to be on the site! 40 + years with birds and every stock or kit of birds I’ve trained were all different, in other words on how they act when let out for the First time..! We’ll see if any more make it back today… Louie
geordie1234 Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 I hated letting my young birds out for the first few weeks last year and im not looking forward to it this year either sitting on roofs flying in all direction if you loss any etc
Pigeonmumbler Posted April 16, 2011 Author Report Posted April 16, 2011 Just got one back!!! Wow what a Trooper! 3 days later, she was Flying & Clapping around the Loft in Joy when I spotted her. I open the trap door and she walked right in... I have her with my breeders so she can Hydrate & Eat and rest for a few days before I place her back with the Flyer's again...
Pigeonmumbler Posted April 19, 2011 Author Report Posted April 19, 2011 OK, They're flying around!Third day out and so far so good, I haven’t lost anymore! they seem to love it taken off the coop and flying round. another week or so and they'll be ready to chase up, Though they seem to be doing pretty good all ready! ... Real spunky little buggers...
