Is there not plants you can get that deter cats??

You could sprinkle some cresote or petrol around where you think its entering.

Don't know the people concerned but if their cat dissappears and they suspect its you they could make things a bit uncomfortable for you come race time.Washing out, weans playing fitba in the garden etc etc.

Yes you make a very good point rjc maybe I should try other alternatives before I make it do a disaperring act! If it was up to me my terrier would be out the back 24/7 but the missus isny up for it

I was lucky I did not get myself into a lot of trouble over cats. Then after one very bad row where I had gone far too far, a friend told me to try an electric fence. It was fantastic from day one. The neighbours were unaware of it's existence but the cats never came over again. These days I have a mains unit which is always on and gives me peace of mind. Last Winter I switched it off while I was doing some work around the loft area and a Fox started causing me problems by trying to grab the birds from under the aviary. I switched the fence on again. Problem solved. A word of warning. A friend bought two of the electronic cat scarers and fitted them either side of his loft. They were brilliant for about 18 months or so but after that a cat had learned to ignore them and attacked his birds. I am not sure if the cat was just a hard case or perhaps it was deaf, but in any event the sonic units became too much of a worry to bother with after that. If you have children you can fit a timer to the unit and only allow it to work at certain times. The cats will not have any truck with your garden after they get a shock and you can leave it off at the times when the kids are playing near it.
