The fed had a meeting yesterday and have decided to cross over to the east coast for the coming season. Just wondered if the members thought this was the correct decision? Should members(like me)have made more effort to get to Locharbriggs to vote? Or is it the right decision?

What is your race programme going to be then, where is your first race. As the hawks are now widespread across the country there seems no point in switchng to try and avoid these so what are the reasons given for the change?

Overflflight seems tae be the main issue. The boys in dumfries get a better measurement from the east!

Take it the Dumfries clubs had a big turnout at the meeting to vote in the change then. Nothing to do now except give it a try and make sure you attend meetings in the future. The wind will still dictate where the birds home from. JMO

on fairness yes they have a good

shout and it is a good club that makes changes to suit, because if you don't

your club Will draw its radius in and then your left out this will happen to more and more, even feds will have to listen as the big club will eat the small one Lanarkshire have flown down the west coast, and at the solway the birds will not cross it in a straight line and it takes them 30min to fly round it so, 30 min longer to times, so as the crow flys,

you can see there dilemma, west winds are the norm so realy it will not have much of an effect really bigda as is

I am no against east coast racing and have won the fed many times from the east side but was a wee bit shocked as the SNFC went west and we went east even tho the meeting was arranged especially for the knowledge of where they wer going to be racin from? Ye Henrik there seems to have been an organised mass turnout from dumfries clubs to push the proposal thru. HO-HUM shall just get on wae it!

Tell you what Steven I have bent over backwards to keep this federation as democratic as I possibly can and also as open as possible with no secret meetings etc and the members have beeen kept completely informed throughout. There are about 160 members in the Fed. and about 130 lofts...so how come only around 60 turn up for argueably the most important meeting of the year.

Ye bang on Walter. It does seem strange tho mate that we waited for the snfc decision then done the opposite? Spoke to a few members today and the ones that are in the 'radius' of the premier club are pleased they joined???

Its too bad that members should desert the Solway Fed because the race programme does not suit them and I must point out that many members do not have the luxury of joining other organisations...............heres a question should we reduce the basket allocation to clubs whose members do not fly with the Solway.?

I aplogise for discussing these matters on an open forum but this business is both interesting and important the future of pigeon racing in South west Scotland is the issue here.

NO sure walter as they pay their dues to the fed then they are members and therefore entitled to backet space whenever they choose tae send! I, like you, have no other way to race pigeons unless with the fed (the only way I would like it)but would hate to see a split in the fed with clubs that have access tae the premier?

We are never like you no steven ever going to keep everyone happy no matter where we choose to race from ,i do think that most members are now looking at the best way to keep there yb team intact and the fed stats provided by our secretary clearly states that the birdage remained far more consistant racing the a1 centre route with birds having a greater chance of working home on the second day ,the last few years after we had raced out of leyland with the youngsters the convoy had virtually been halved ,I personally have good and bad views regarding both routes the cumbrian hills (sedburgh ) area being the main problem on the west route ,and the volume of pigeon traffic as we get further down being the main issue with our small convoy on the other route,i do agree with you fathers views that whatever route we race it should be given four or five years with no chopping and changing got to be good for the doos in the long run ,just have to get the head down now and get on with it ,by the way stevie the fechan had more than there share of fed toppers going this way think i will start training frae your back garden think that would be good breaking point . :emoticon-0136-giggle:

Majority voted to go east just like Lanarkshire did you must respect the choice of the majority and if your not happy work to get it changed in the coming years.

Hope all goes well for the guys who stick with the fed racing down the east still can be troublesome but I guess you will find out what is better east or west in the next few years

That must be every fed down the east bar midland fed

I TAKE IT YOUR CONCERN HERE IS MESSAC with the national, Steve i am not a Nat member as you know, but what i do know, if there was a liberation to be made, on a sat and the weather says 15 east wind and on Sunday it was to be 15 mile west wind i would stick my neck out and say they are going up on Sunday :emoticon-0136-giggle:
