Guest Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 The AVG free Anti Virus is excellent and does the job!
DOVEScot Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 The AVG free Anti Virus is excellent and does the job! Seemingly the free version is better than the paid for one
Roland Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 Avati too is great... used both the Avasti, and the AVG. Found them both better that the 'Names' ... but after the last slip up... I was persuaded to use 'BullGuard'. Competatively priced so what the heck I splashed out £25. Pleased too so far.

With AVG this usually happens every time you switch on your PC - but can be run manually also. A virus can still get in whilst using an anti-virus program if; - the virus definitions are not up to date (your anti-virus program cant check for a virus it doesnt know about) - the anti-virus program makers havent issued a definition for the virus (once a virus is spotted they usually get a definition out pretty quick) - the virus is circumnavigating the anti-virus program installed (as above, once spotted the company will issue an update to their program) Probably the most important thing to keep yourself secure on the net is to be careful what you open (email attachments) or download (and sometimes what sites you visit - especially if you're using a Internet Explorer). I'd recommend using FireFox as your web browser (link on the right under the adverts). Install an anti-virus program, and keep it up to date (I've used and would recommend AVG). Install a firewall program, and keep it up to date (I've used and would recommend ZoneAlarm). All of the programs^ are free to download and use

Roland Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Then there is them 'Ba###ds ones that nip in and take all you Email addies. Float upon high and send viruses non - stop to the all. I once had irate addies asking not to keep sending messages as they were full of viruses. I never had my P.c. on. Not connected, or plugged in etc. That took a hell of a time to sort. the 'Good Guys' first of had to find the 'Satalite' being used, etc. let alone kep up to date with all the new ones it was sending out. Not a happy chappie was I. Couldn't even send and applige...
