moderation how much and when

I think overall the moderators do a great job and lets face it for very little or no reward at all.

 

Im of a different opinion to many in that i dont think they take a strong enough stance with some threads (I dont mean the banter ones) but look at the member who has been posting abusive language over the last 5 minutes he should have been gone within 10 seconds of it happening and then let Richard decide whether to have him back or not.

 

There should be no room for any form of abusive content on a personal level or the forum as a whole - I personally think zero tolerance on these matters is the best way forward - Better to have 80 good respectable members online than 100 with 20 idiots with a bee in their bonnet.

i don't think there is much wrong with the moderation on this site , a fair bit of latitude is given in all aspects on the site , which would not be given on other's , when you sign up , an agreement is made to stick by the rule's , if the signee find's that they are not for him or her , they have the choice to move on .

 

And, if they don't choose to move on themselves, the web master should 'move them on.

very well said i think the moderators have a very hard job 2 do

i dont think the site would be as good without the banter at

times we all need 2 laugh and let the hair down after a days

i think some are geting up in arms about the banter bieng taken off iam not against banter and iam probably going going to up set some but i think that some of the banter gets on my wick in the middle of a good thread and should get taken away there is a chit chat for that stuff and thats where it should go if someone has started a thread for what ever reason/subject then as much as possible thats what should be on it so we are now jumping on the backs of the mods for doing their jobs right what next

at the risk of contradicting myself there is something in that....perhaps the job is more subjective than we think...so we expect it to be evenhanded when it can't be. i do think that if a thread is moved...and a link not left..that the original poster ought to get a pm. i thought my 'numpty club' thread had been deleted when it had been moved to 'chit-chat'...i didn't know because i was not a subscriber.

Sorry nothing personal just using your reply as an example to my post, yes there is a lot members miss the people that notice the most are the ones that it happens to.

 

Banter was rife when I joined the site and we still heard the same complaints then but nothing seems to be done about it, maybe nothing will

 

I personally thing admin called it wrong on the "Ben's Bird Thread" and then they deleted the least little thing that was posted in order to prove their point, I pointed out that other banter was allowed to run and you could see them all sifting through the boards so I could not highlight any, they moved this to chit chat which was on the main board up till then http://forum.pigeonbasics.com/m-1226342838/ just petty tactics because I proved a point :-/

banter was rife on the site when you joined but i am sure you agree it did get out of hand and many people left the site because of it

so all banter was banned until chit chat board was put on for banter

it had an affect to stop people using every thread to have a laugh some people only want to read pigeons

we have all had something removed but to be truthfull we broke the rules to start with so what do we expect and yes we think thats someone has it in for us but after a few days its forgoten well with me anyway ive called a few mods some names but they realy cant win can they
