used easibed the last two years from weaning until young bird racing is finished not changing it at all

 

reckon my young birds have never been healthier although i still had to sort a couple out which went light

 

read in the homing world another fancier by the name of elsacker saying the same

 

will you use a deep litter if not why not?

we dont use the deep litter system well really we have an inch of shavings on the floor of one loft the rest are on the bare floor

these are cleaned out near enough daily of the year our hens are on an inch or 2 of shavings which is scraped and turned near

enough daily and renewed every couple of weeks we dont have a preferance its all down to time and handiness tjmo

have deep litter in all lofts apart from hen side it be winter only ;)

have grills in young bird loft with cat litter under the grills about a inch deep done this the end of last year and prefer it just because its easier and also plan to fit grills to the ob loft

I have permanent deep litter in all my sections.

 

A local fancier uses a similar system for his YBs as yourself Frank, he just doesn't clean them out.
