Was a time when most tournements had a few scored from direct corners.

indeed the 1962 / 66 and 70 world cup was plagued with them Gosh Eusabio was a past master and dab hand at them.

I once spoke to the English set up team Hoddle lot and brought this up. They said that with the older heavier ball it was possible because they had a better control of it.regards it movement. Yes this light ball used today means that it moves mostly of it own free svere and movement. I.e. hit hard enough it will bend, but one can't be sure of which, and how many ways. So that is another downer regards the actual skill in this game of football.

I played with a guy called Drew McCallum when i was in my teens. He scored a HAT TRICK from corners one day, nobody watchin the game could believe their eyes. The wind was blowing like hell and he used that to his advantage but it was still some achievement for a young lad.

Sadly no longer with us, he passed away very young through alcoholism, like many others from around here its sad to say.
