Roland Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 I'm not a racist in any way shape of form. But I do agree with the sentiments here. If any person, regardless of race, colour etc. works and provides for his family etc. Pays his taxes and helps out when he can. Mucks in TO help when feaible then great, for he will earn and have the same respect and rights as any other person I believe. I think this girl was saying about the same. It took a lot of courage for this woman to speak what she had to say for the world to hear. The retribution could be phenomenal, but at least she was willing to take a stand on her and Australia 's beliefs. Prime Minister Julia Gillard - Australia Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.. Separately, Gillard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying she supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT.. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians. ' 'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom' 'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, Learn the language!' 'Most Australians (but not me) believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.' 'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.' 'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.' 'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

JohnQuinn Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 This could turn out to be a very negative statement from her, regardless of right and wrong she will no doubt incite violence from one section of society to the other, which will have a bigger effect on the Australian public than her.The very freedom she speaks of allows you to voice your opinion, whether you are in the majority or minority, but she seems to have forgotten this and what separates us from the radicals is tolerance of other peoples views but she seems to forget that too. Make no mistake without immigrants Australia would be nothing.

Make no mistake without immigrants Australia would be nothing. I agree with some of that John. And of course freedom of speech is just that... freedom of speech, and further even to 'Voice and Opinion. This doesn't cover anything else whatsoever. Too many unjust and bigotry remarks and worse 'Schemes’ are camouflaged as 'Freedom of Speech. It doesn't for instance legistrate for any one to force, or promote THEIR so - called rights over any one else’s. Just the freedom to express it! Most will agree to that and even defend the Right to be said.... whether on agrees or not one agrees personally, whatever within certain realms. Freedom of speech is certainly not to promote, incite to any lawlessness for instance. That isn't a freedom of speech. Nor is any promotion to deter, or outlaw anyone’s perfect right to have customs or tradition, or religious beliefs etc. Then it becomes not a freedom of speech but an excite to curtail another’s right. Yes without the immigrants for instance in this country there would be a 'State Pension' as this in the main is from the £40billion that they put into our coffers. But to protest a flying of ones flag, to ban 'Piggy Banks' etc. etc and other outlandish stupidities. Then it is not their’ freedom of speech, but an enforcement of curtailing our rights. I have no problems personally with any one being here, none whatsoever. But it may well bite her on the bum yet. May well incite ‘Red Necks’ into believing that they have now found an new ally to become racists. Who knows, I hope not.
Novice Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 I believe that speech to be several months old but could be mistaken.I agree wholeheartedly it's content. If we in the UK do not change things soon it is estimated that we will be a minority group in our own country by 2066.Not a nice prospect for our children and grandchildren.
