Wiley Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 i believe the sport in oz and new zealand is tottally different to what it is in the UK, when are these ybs intended to be raced or trained?
Roland Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Not much racing old birds in oz I believe. tis mainly the young birds that race I believe.
Guest Owen Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 You can not feed your youngsters by asking other people, how much. There are too many variables to be able to use a mathematical calculation. Besides the art of feeding any animal is about how you feed not how much. I often see people leave food down for dogs and wonder why they can not do anything with the animal. It is the same with pigeons. First of all, make sure you have enough trough space for them so that they can eat in comfort with no bullying. Remove the drinker and put the troughs down and use a clicker or your voice as a stimulant to feed. Leave the troughs down for about 5 minutes and remove them completely. Replace the drinkers with fresh water and leave them too it. Make sure they have fresh grit and clay blocks crumpled up and mixed with the grit at least once each day. If the birds do not show that they are keen to eat you have overfed them. Any bird that is slow to come to the trough should be picked up and checked at the next feed, because it could be sickening for something and feeding a bird that is not really keen to eat is asking for trouble.I hope that helps.
