Breeding Time

Hi

Im hoping to pair up on the 11th Dec, providing its not to cold.

I have treated them for canker, cocci, salmonella etc. They are on a good moulting mixture, not too heavy and are handling realy well.

Im thinking of putting a tubular heater in the loft this weekend to increase the loft temperture. Is there anything else i can do to make sure that things go smoothly.

Any tips and advice from all of uz experienced fanciers, would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Out of interest how long ago did you treat for e-coli/salmonella?

In my opinion heaters arent needed just lights for a successful breeding period

Personally, a lot of vets suggest you need a 3-4 week clearing of treating, just thought you should know as would be a waste if you get the majority of clear eggs. Regarding light i tend to increase it to 14 hours, however i only do this for stock pigeons,

I used a tubular heater in a small stock loft last year it certainly made it more comfortable for myself saying that i did have an excellent hatch and did not loose any youngsters, don't think i will pair stock up this year until February at earliest and do as i did last year and not breed of the race team as they raced very well like that .omo :)

yo watch wat you are doing with the lights if its your race birds as this can affect the moult later in the new year.

nothing wrong breeding early but i like to treat birds with wheatgerm oil on the corn and give a calcium aditive make sure you got grit available and water isnt frozen keep it changed regular when young birds are in the nest they need it .
