REDCHEQHEN Posted November 20, 2010 Report Posted November 20, 2010 2009 had one reported in Morocco - Tangiers, by a non fancier !! It was 2 weeks after liberation from Bourges, a poor race, that didn't even have 250 on the combine sheet - peeing down on the channel - am assuming he took refuge on a ship. He was 5th club from the same race the year before It took me a few weeks to locate a fancier who was willing to collect the bird, but the non fancier had let it go - as it had become a celebrity and he was sick of all the visitors !! I had looked up how to get to Morocco - it was a 36 hour bus journey - you changed at Paris!! Had I been able to get it to a fancier - we would have made a holiday out of collecting him
Guest IB Posted November 20, 2010 Report Posted November 20, 2010 I hold the club record for shortest (700 yards) and longest (700 miles) stray reports. Young bird out exercising ended up 700 yards down the road, no problem collecting that, but the other was a 2 y-o racing from Leicester ended up on an oil rig off Norway. Didn't get her back as finder was a pigeon fancier about to go on-shore (Norway). After initial email contacts from rig, never heard from him again.
Wiley Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 Norway, is the longest way away, was racing from Stonehaven
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 Had a Mealy cock that was liberated from Ypres and finished up in the North of Denmark, Ypres is 441 miles to me and he flew 488 miles to Denmark, must have conditioned him just right
Craig05 Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 Had a yearling liberated from Clarmont last year and reported to me in Poland. the guy was very keen to keep the bird and as i wasnt going that way, i parted with the bird and let him have her
almeehan Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 Lost a pigeon in the yearling national from INFC Sennen Cove this year, had it reported in Portaventura, the theme park near Barcelona. Also last year had a youngbird from the young bird national race from Penzance, had it reported in La Coruna in Northern Spain. Didn't get either of them back!
