hi mark have you seen the bricon ets trap in the bhw made by r.v.woodcraft, the best i have seen, was going to have a go at making one but when i saw the price i could not make it cheeper, £30 for small, £35 for large, you would need the £30 one, made with quality plywood.  kirky.

with that shape of trap mark you will have the same problem i had with sputnik, birds can miss the pad,

nar trapping on top with bottom enclosure for bathing and release so in fact no room for them to get on top of each other , i took that into consideration

Where are you going to place the pad Mark. I ask because the way I understand it the pad cant be positioned directly under the landing board. Just curious as to whats permitted and whats not.

friend of mine fitted lathes(1" strips of wood) behind his sputnick leaving a 11" opening and headroom around about 10" and the widowhood cocks dive in and have to go over the 11" bricon pad and he said after a few times trapping the cocks go in now as well as ever.

The bobwires need to be at the back of the trap after the birds have clocked,the front of the trap should be as open as possible,the ones I made are like a open box  with bob wires at the back,the front of the box as a hinged board which drops down for the birds to land on,they then walk into the box which as the pad underneath as they walk in they are timed and then they go through the bobs into the loft,the box is inside the loft with the hinged board covering the front when not in use.

This does happen but it is not against RPRA rules.

ive not got ets as yet  but pads will fit on rails under the trap were the draw is

That was also the closest rule i can find to the one i think Mark is reffering too but as i said to yellow it is in my opinion not set enough in stone.

 

My birds walk through an initial entrance at which point they clock they then go through bob wires through to the loft.

You cant put something into the rule thats not there,its talking about the attenae not the pigeon.

How about this then,

                              I have a 4' corridor and on the sliding door on the inside of the loft ( 4' from the front of course ) I have my pad underneath the landing board.  My pigeons will fly throgh the outside open door and land on this and time in.  They are within the confines of the loft but not confined within the loft.  How would you read that, legal or not ?

As a further point to the above, once they hit the landing board, they then drop into the loft proper through bob wires.

the bricon ets trap in the bhw states it fully complies with rpra rule 241, it has a drop down landing board birds enter over pad inside then drop through bob wires.

I would say Legal,the rule does not mention the bird,it says the attennae must be within the confines of the loft.
