Guest grizzler Posted June 14, 2012 Report Posted June 14, 2012 I think you are all living in a dream world. I'd the bird is good enough to win then it will. Pen position will not make a bird any better. The judge will pick out the right bird no matter what pen it's in. If you show at a proper show then you can't change the pen positions. For instance Blackpool. Paperwork is filled in before you get there and you can't shuffle birds around. The huge will sort them outtotally agree with this post,if you have a competent judge who knows his stuff, best will always be best.
Guest geordiejen Posted June 14, 2012 Report Posted June 14, 2012 i was wondering how the racing pigeon show guys could switch pigeons around, usually you get a schedule out and a week before the show you get your pen numbers.the pens are set out as pigeon breed and sex of the bird, then colour then bar or chequer.
sapper756 Posted November 28, 2012 Author Report Posted November 28, 2012 I have been to a few shows and observed fanciers move a certain colour of bird to another pen they have been allocated, because someone has put a bird of the same colour next to theirs, ie, a blue next to another blue. or a red next to another red. So do the assume that judges may compare colours when so close to each other?http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif also some do not like to be allocated either the first pen or the last penhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif Any views on this?http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif Thank Youhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gifhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/animatedpigeons.gif
eastcoaster Posted November 28, 2012 Report Posted November 28, 2012 Can i ask a wee question, if showing racers does it matter if the last flight is not fully up ?Been wanting to show a few but all my best racers are not fully up yet.cheers
Simonwoo Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 Well personally from me I would rather put a bird forward that was coming up on its last flight if its was a better type and condition than the other birds that was up. Type should be first. So when people are looking at them in the cage then they can see what we should be looking for.
Guest H@wkBait Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 of course pen posisions important esp for through the wires if the pens are stacked 2 high ould u put ur best bird on the bottom tier here its in the shadows? pen 1 is a dodgy pen aswell lol
Delboy Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 Can i ask a wee question, if showing racers does it matter if the last flight is not fully up ?Been wanting to show a few but all my best racers are not fully up yet.cheers Any decent dooman will not bother whether the last flight is up or not. Its total bullsh!t from guys that know fk all Colin, a real judge can lift a bird from a pen and before he has his second hand on it he will know if its what hes looking for. As for pen position, it is an advantage when thru wires.
