Bakes its only scaffold mesh try your local builders merchants or failing that try ebay you can buy it buy the metre its far cheaper that petrons.

Don't be misled by the advert, anything with holes in it will let water through, especially when driven by wind, and close-knit mesh also stops a lot of light. Yes, it does cut down on drafts, but you can't see through it all that well, so it's a good privacy screen for birds to bath behind.

thats what im after it for privacy screen as last few days my stock birds have been jumpy looked back on cctv and last few days had a bloody sparrowhawk hanging off front of aviary lookly the mesh is small mesh no wounder my dogs have been going ape thought a cat had walked along my fence. i got on there is small cage bird mesh outside and inside double meshed i thought somethink has been going on as birds have been jumpy and this morning when over shop to get paper bumped into my neighbour and she said she seen the sparrowhawk hanging of front of my aviary when she was putting here washing out she tryed to shout me but i was in bed asleep as i let stock out into aviary so they can come and go as they please back and forth most the day why i get some sleep as i work nights at first i thought a cat has been about spooking them if i had the conection lead to the hardrive i would put it up but i cant find the bloody thing and show everyone the hawk hanging off my aviary first light not longafter i went back into house to go bed then mid day defently a sparrow hawk hen bloody thing then thought about the green netting i seen in past in loft visits at armstrong wheatlys as well as other flyers i been to loft visits and got thinking it would be ideal so hawk wouldnt be able to see them luckly the mesh is small i got up other wise the bloody thing would end up trying to pull my stock threw mesh when there sitting on poles in aviarys had an collard dove ripped to bits on my lawn not 30 yards from loft sunday been hawked so looks like the hen is about again really is a pain birds cant sit out in aviary now with out pob haveing pop at them

i will have a look on ebay see if i can find the same stuff cheaper havent gave petron a bell yet as been tuck dogs a walk but i will have a look at other options if its going to cost me a few bob less i go with the cheapest i can find

If you go down the nearest building site where scaffolding is being used you will see Debris Netting around the s'fold, the site manager would probably let you have enough to do an aviary for nowt, they do around here.

If not there is always the after dark option

Just wondered if you've tried CDs to reflect light as a deterrent? I've an old-fashioned clothes pole about 6 foot in front of the loft. It has 4 lugs sticking out near top for tying up the washing line. I've stuck a CD on 3 of the 4 lugs that point east, south and north. They move in and with the wind and reflect light in every direction, away from the loft. John Harwood of BHW also uses CDs to protect his aviary. Maybe worth a try before actually forking out cash?

Hi Lindsay, agree they seem to work 'only' in some cases. I'd to take the 4th one that I had facing the loft back down, the light dancing over the ground towards the loft frightened the pigeons.
