david Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 I got told about this event on this esate by a gamekeeper and feel all from the area should know and be made aware of this diabolical happening.I was running in cocker field trial yesterday in Elie Fife. Before the competitors got started we were advised of a few incidents that have happened on this shooting estate over the weekend and the beginning part of this week . A shepherd was out feeding ewe's on sunday when he heard screams and terrible noises coming from a field opposite where he was feeding his stock. He saw all his sheep huddled together at the far end of the field and in the middle of the field he saw what he thought was a bird of prey on a hare .He ran to the area only to find a sea eagle on top of a frantic young roe buck (this years calf) ripping lumps from it's side. .He scared of the eagle and the roe jumped to it's feet and took of into the wood's minus a few lumps of hare. The next morning a local free range chicken farm near Strathkinness had 11 chickens slaughtered by a large type eagle. The same night a women had a collie cross puppy taken from a farm in Elie and yesterday morning a man out walking with his Jack russel had it attacked of the lead while out walking. The sea eagle had lifted it of the ground about 5ft before it dropped it. Before we started the field trial yesterday we were advised this eagle was in the Area and could very well attack our cocker spaniels. We did not see anything yesterday but The gamekeeper and shepherd are at a wit's end with worry about game birds and their livestock. I could not believe these story's when told but they are all true and the men are responsible characters.I only pass this info' on to help David
Guest Tooshy Boy Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 NEED TO GET RID OF THIS THING RIGHT AWAY.ANY WAY YOU CAN.///
THE FIFER Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 well they are the ones to get something done if there is proof that their livestock are being attacked, get to their MP.s I know a lot were released here in fife, lately and we see them every day in the sky, the farmers should sue the people who released them, the only way to get this sorted out proper is legally,
david Posted October 28, 2010 Author Report Posted October 28, 2010 I agree. The keeper and estate owner along with there local councilor are trying to get someone to listen to their plight and sort this sorry state of affair's out . the RSPB have brought into the Fife and surrounding area a terrible scenario of events that can only get worse.By all accounts this is not a one of and these happenings are set to escalate as long as these birds are released. It makes me cringe!!I was informed that the estate owner and keeper along with shepherd will not suffer this for long. DAVID
THE FIFER Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 farmers and estate owners have a lot of power, and as said the only way to get something done is to do it legal, doing it the other way is just giving the rspb more backing, get onto Alex Salmon he will do a lot to get voters, its causing lots of problems, shops not selling wild bird food as there isnt any song birds etc to eat it, i put seed on my bird house at beginning of summer and its still there, thats the only way keep all complaints and and disscussions above board, the pigeon unions tried hard but failed, yes but really what influence do we have with the vast majority of the public, not a lot those days, but farmers and estate owners doo

I look around and see the whole country upside down because of the thugs and scum that scourge our society.I am a bit of the topic here but how long have birds of prey been doing the harm they have to fanciers and men who try to make a living of the land ..good honest people! I then look and see the political groups who perpetrate violence with strong radical views bombing their way to the debating table ...Stormont spring's to mind !! How extreme was it for us to believe this could ever happen.I believe fanciers and people from the land could get change and it's not all about diplomacy.I am an honest man who pays his way and works for respect and his money but i am more than sure i will not stand by and see anything personal to me destroyed because of red tape and clueless laws set out 500 miles away from my front door in london where jokers meet to display ridicule upon each other and make decisions about my life .No chance!...I have no answer, but will let you know when i do.Thankyou for your kind reply.I DAVID
alex wight Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Isnt there a breeding station in a secret location near St Andrews? I,m guessing its in the middle ot tentsmuir. It was on the tv not so long ago bragging about releasing these birds, and will continue to. What is happening here, if your face/organisation fits you,ll be ok. Fly pigeons as we do, and they take the rise out of us knowing we cant do a bloody thing about it.................or can we?
thunderbigbaws Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 if it can do that to a roe deer, it can kill a toddler very eary
Guest IB Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Similar problems on Western Isles were televised some years back when crofters & farmers were said to get compensation for farm animals taken by sea eagles. Decisions on birds of prey are matters for Scottish Government, not Westminster, and there is an interesting exchange available on the web about a petition sent in & Roseanna Cunningham's, the new Environment Minister, response to the petitioner:- http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/s3/committees/petitions/petitionsubmissions/sub-10/10-PE1309E.pdf Roseanna Cunningham took over from Mike Reid. Mike Reid was very sympathetic to measures to solve the BoP problem, Roseanna Cunningham is said to be the very opposite.

Guest IB Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 At the same time as petition pe1309 was being considered, another petition pe1315 by RSPB was also being considered by the same committee, 2 members of which, including the temporary chair, were also members of RSPB??? http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/business/petitions/docs/PE1315.htm
