Guest llcoolj Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Can someone please tell me if one can sell bird that does not belong to him/her? I bought 2 birds from someone, after couple of weeks requested for transfer form, to my surprise this person said he could not transfer the birds since they were not in his name.I know you can get away if you only buy them as stock bird, however if the bird happens to escape there is no way to get it back.
Roland Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Stock bird or not, should be transfered into new owners name I believe. Otherwise they can't be the LEGAL owner.
sapper756 Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 I would request the details of the original owner of the birds, and then contact this person, 1, to request a transfer and 2, to confirm the person I bought them from, had in fact obtained them honestlyhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif
Tony C Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Report them as strays to the union, that way you'll find out who's name the pigeons/rings were registered to then take it from there.
Guest spin cycle Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 i once reported a stray to rpra...who put me onto registered keeper who said ' i breed and sell lots of birds...i rekon the buyer hasn't transferred it...no i don't keep records of who i sell birds to...not one of mine etc.' interestingly he was advertising in last weeks bhw
Guest strapper Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 officially the bird remains the property in the eyes of the rpra if not transfered into new owners name..so if that bird got out and reported the original owner would be responsible for sending for that bird.
Guest llcoolj Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Thanks guys for your honesty. I think will call RPRA 2moro and report the birds. Maybe then we will find the name of the real owner.Cheers.
