cemetary Posted May 16, 2009 Report Posted May 16, 2009 Looks brand new, very nice loft you have there mate, one of the best lofts i have seen is when at Blackpool a couple of years ago, traynor/trantor, what a loft, if i had the cash i would have goten one. The wife wouldnt let me get it. :'( But you have a nice one there.
Guest Grasshopper Lofts Posted May 16, 2009 Report Posted May 16, 2009 heres a pic of my loft cracking loft you got there
Guest new kid big man Posted May 16, 2009 Report Posted May 16, 2009 when i sour john tranter lofts i will admit they are beautiful but if you pay more atention they aren't structualy sound. the trusses that are taking the weight of the tiles are too far apart and the loft was made out of 2x2 framework which is very strong for a normal felted roof or a 6foot tiled roof but not an 8 foot. but they are stunning

Guest Posted May 16, 2009 Report Posted May 16, 2009 I have a Blakes 18' x 8' and cannot fault it. made a few minor mods for my own benefit, but all in all a good loft
alex wight Posted May 16, 2009 Report Posted May 16, 2009 No leaks on my 2, and i,m very happy with them and also the service i received from all at blakes. I,ve coated one 12ft x 6ft loft and will be doing the other 18ft x 6ft in the next couple of weeks.
Guest asha Posted May 17, 2009 Report Posted May 17, 2009 Looking good means nothing,it would take me 2 mins to find basics faults, blakes or not,i would never buy ready made, just look at the one the lad who supposed works for blakes put up himself, roofslope to shallow for a start, and why how why did he not keep the double romans straight, looks like the backend of a dog,if your eye`s not good enough, just straight edge them in,or even use a decent batten to tap more on line. :-/
Guest mikkey Posted May 17, 2009 Report Posted May 17, 2009 asha your a full weight *expletive removed*....excuse my yorkshire
Guest shadow Posted May 17, 2009 Report Posted May 17, 2009 lets see your lofts then maybe we could find faults
Guest Posted May 17, 2009 Report Posted May 17, 2009 Blakes lofts are one of the few companies that are realistically priced for the average fancier,my friend swears by them. There are alot of loft manufacturers, most charging fancy money and they aren't any better than Blakes, lofts will always get wet in extreme weather no matter weather you spend £600 or £6ooo,not that we have any connection to Blakes,we buy garden sheds and convert them when we need a new loft, you can do it in a day and it's amazing how when you are buying a shed instead of a loft the price plumits dramatically!
Guest Owen Posted May 17, 2009 Report Posted May 17, 2009 Well lads, I owe you a vote of thanks. I want a new loft this year and I have been thinking of buying one from either Blakes or Econo. After reading this I will definately build my own. It will have a 3/4 ply skin overlapped at the base and an Onduline roof with Onduline vents and see through panels in the roof. It will be a lot of work but it will work out cheaper and I will garantee it will not leak.
Guest new kid big man Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 just so you know i did everything my self. the reason the tiles aren't in line is because the base is out of level. im am a pigeeon loft erector not a base layer. u are knocking the tiles when you started of the message by saying looks mean nothing. what else can i say. im happy with it. thats all thats important to me.
allenyeates Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 Had a Blakes loft for 8 odd years, no leaks, no problems, just creosoted every year. Mine came with traps so I extended landing board. Personally I would say value for money
pjc Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 never had any problems with blakes loft, petron worst i've ever had!
richie pigeon Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 my stock lofts are blakes lofts and are 8 years old never had a prob i cupprinol them every year good value for money
weirbridge Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 i think blakes lofts are real value for money and very easy to deal with they delivered our 16ft yesterday morning less than 2 weeks of ordering. we shopped around and couldnt even match a decent garden shed for the same price.
Guest Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 asha your a full weight *expletive removed*....excuse my yorkshire Aye maybe.... but an honest one and you don't get many honest p**cks to the pound these days.
John k Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 I believe my loft is a Blakes loft i brought it 2nd hand according to the owner this time was the 4th time of it being took down and erected back up. Can honestly say i am pleased with it no leaks wot so ever anywhere it does have a fibreglass roof though but no leaks through joints etc and we have had some big downpours of rain so it as been tested.

That looks a really good practical loft, could do with one of them!
wilkins Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 i dont like the sliding doors on blakes to much gap up the side, for mice etc
