sapper756 Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Now that we are fastly approaching the dark mornings and nights, I just think to myself what a blessing it is to have lights in all my loft sections, I don,t know how fanciers without these manage. Do you have lights? if not, what do you do during the winter time, do you have to change your routine? If you have lights, what other advantages do you think they offer? THANK YOUhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif
Guest spin cycle Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 don't have lights. during winter feed mornings rather than nights. don't lights interfer with moult ?
cemetary Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 No lights in lofts, just change the time of feeding, dont wont to disturb birds during moult.

sapper756 Posted September 27, 2010 Author Report Posted September 27, 2010 I find that as the winter sets in, it is pitch black before I head off to work, and the same when I get home, so the lights for me are idealhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif
cemetary Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 I find that as the winter sets in, it is pitch black before I head off to work, and the same when I get home, so the lights for me are ideal I havent had lights in ma huts ever Brian, so a couldnt say if it makes any difference to the birds or not mate, the birds always seem to get a good moult, JMO. But thats all i doo is change the feeding times when am at home, and works in well with the wifes work. A light in the sheddy is handy when youve got ti go and get some more beer though,
Ian McKay Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Do you give your birds a beer :D :D
cemetary Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Do you give your birds a beer :D :D Yir Aff Topic, Ian stick to thread please,
PIGEON_MAN Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Never bothered with lights as never had to but if I had to have them would definately have a dimmer switch on them as birds could easily damage new flights etc trying to get back onto perches as you put the light out,at least with a dimmer switch the light will fade gradually so birds will perch up before the lights go out completely.

JohnQuinn Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Like many of the other members i feed them in the morning now, only letting them out at weekends while the moult is heavy is about as much as i do to allow the moult to go smoothly. works for me!
gulkie Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 lights are a must if ybs have been on darkness so they cangrow their flights and catch up. I didn't have lights last year and someof my ybs held 1 or even 2 flights .
