lanarkshire lad Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 What do fanciers honestly think of this product?Ive used it for the past three years and havent noticed a bit of difference in the pigeons or there droppings, the problem with the De weerd products is they never tell you whats in them!i thought it was illegal for antibiotics to be sold over the counter in this country.I also know of a fancier that had paratyphoid confirmed and he used parastop on them and it never made one bit of difference to them.I see Bert Braspenning recomending a product from Dr van der sluis for paratyphoid has anybody tried it?
ribble Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 Get a pooled loft sample done, you then know if you need to use it.
BOND111 Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 I normally vacinate for paratyphoid but decided to use para stop instead.I found it not to be as effective as Chevi Vac-s if It works at all. When I spoke to De Weird I found them to be very secretive regarding ingredients, and rude when they were pressed on the matter.

Guest IB Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 IMO paratyphoid is a disease that ordinary Joes like ourselves shouldn't even try to deal with - best left to professionals. And an antibiotic the same class as Baytril should not be messed about with, that's how we create antibiotic resistance, and disease carriers. And you will not always find salmonella in droppings. It's the type of bacteria which causes disease only after invading body cells, especially the white blood cells (and that's the problem because they are part of the immune system) and from there all the major organs - even when the droppings show clear.

If we use same corn supplier then something was found but very little amounts.. It is now banned along with Orni special... Tests found it had anti biotics in it
Shortcut Lofts Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 I always use parastop every year. Great product but very expensive. Would not be without it. Van Der Sluis products are also very good but the size of scoop you have to use means they are not as long lasting. Lots of european lofts using the van der sluis products. Best in my opinion is the total disinfectant from Van der Sluis. Eamon
