paul10121968 Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 hi.i am interested in monitering the losses that we are all experiencing.i plan to do this with a series of polls.any opinions are also welcome.thanks paul.
blaz Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 your poll only lets you select one of the choices. i have lost 12 plus from loft yb,s 1 training only trained 3 times yb,s 2 racing only done 2 races yb,s 17 old birds 15 of which got lost in far shorter races than the birds had previously raced the year before.3 old birds training the 3 of them had raced out to at least 300 mile

Guest IB Posted August 5, 2010 Report Posted August 5, 2010 No offence, but I believe this is better asked end of season. It's tempting fate to post losses when season has just begun for some.
greenlands Posted August 5, 2010 Report Posted August 5, 2010 I would say 40/50% of the lads in my area have had enough this season and thrown the towel in. We've had four races in our fed and some serious losses, could be alsorts of excuses poor training ,birds not fully over YBS but one for definate BOP.Our races have been seen heading towards Black Coombe and just milling about not wanting to run the gauntlet. My youngens had at least twenty tosses by myself and further tosses with a local transporter going within ten mile of the first race point I never lost a bird training but had a few injured, lost three by BOP over the loft and sixteen racing, two reported dead two back in boxes and two returned a week late, probably brought nearer home by some good fancier. The Fed just South of ours. Again had a real hammering, one fancier comes to mind and a very difficult man to beat 73 away 50 missing on the night from their first YB race.Lindsay.
OLDYELLOW Posted August 5, 2010 Report Posted August 5, 2010 not racing ybs as were to advanced in there moult before training will be breeding far later next season , i blame the high winds and hold overs for the advanced moult , so will be removing a few from the team and winter rest and will get plenty of training in to them next year , not had the best of weather or racing conditions this year , hope next years alot better , global warming just another way of getting us all to pay more tax had coldest winter 2 weeks you could call summer rest been a wash out , i think biggest factor has been weather related and bops , i also wonder what efects the solar flares have had on training in last few days ?
fred x Posted August 5, 2010 Report Posted August 5, 2010 Lost 3 in training over the weeks, & 17 in one race, the very first yb race of the season, It leaves me 6 Young bird to race this season left. only raced 12 young birds last year, left with 6 yourlings. I have had to sent away for some rings a freind is going to bred me 6 late breds i can train in the closed season. so i will have some thing to fly next season. Only retuned back to racing last year What has this sport become, just a feeding ground for the BOP. the federation fly West to East along the South Coast each week.I will give it one more year, see how it go's then i may call it a day. i have had good people gifted me good pigeons I Had the Dropping tested back with "OK"Never trained my pigeon so much in my life. Up to 35 mile they could beat me home each time.I keep looking in the mirror, & saying to myself what are you doing wrong. !!!! "I'm Gutted"

paul10121968 Posted August 7, 2010 Author Report Posted August 7, 2010 i am shocked by the amount of birds that are going missing.to many i think even for the bop to be taking them all.all feds have had bumps this year all over the country.its very difficult to find the reason for these lossess but one thing is for certain the lossess are getting worse not better.i decided not to race my youngsters again this year and start them off as yearlings instead.they will still be trained as normal.i did the same thing last year and only lost six out of 22 yearlings.i raced them up to 200 miles and stopped them.but next year i should be able to take them further as 2 year olds.
sapper756 Posted August 7, 2010 Report Posted August 7, 2010 I think after the losses from todays racing here in Scotland, might blow your poll out of the waterhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif
Guest Davy Fleming Posted August 7, 2010 Report Posted August 7, 2010 Started with 81 now have 45 left
