Novice Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 I have introduced 2 pair from J and A Mellor. They are just mating just now but I think they are good birds and completely different type from those I already have. I am looking forward to testing them and having some fun with this years youngsters.

lanarkshire lad Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 You would think by the law of averages someone must be winning with them.

DUBLINFLYER Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 there's good and bad of all families of strains... go to someone who IS WINNING out of turn with them and in GOOD competition... THEN YOU SHOULD BE OK... if you have a decent system that is best of luck what ever you decide
lanarkshire lad Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 Watch this spaceIt wont be long to all the theories stop and reality bites. ;D ;D ;D
Novice Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 It wont be long to all the theories stop and reality bites. ;D ;D ;D You are absolutely right. We all need a challenge, something different, in the racing season to add interest. This is one of mine for this year. Win lose or draw it will add interest.
BLACK W F Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 Well i never hear or read of them winning much. look in the homing world kevin flys round the midlands selling stock birds all proven pluse winners ask gangster that was 2-3 wks ago

DUBLINFLYER Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 bandit on here had a great season winning 7 races, old bird averages, combine averages and he had the best old bird in the club and he keeps this strain
newbold Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 if you get proper rolland janssens with no x in them and your manejment is winnig you will win with with them, they are good fast birds but you have to have the rigt managment to win
pearse1888 Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 wouldnt be my pick .. but each to there own
jakjak Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 I had 6 from John Mellor in 2006 from his best. And have built a successful family from these birds. and only added 1 pigeon since. If buying roland janssens, remember to include the blues in the family. I think alot of people just want the grizzles, but this is not a true make up of the family - there is many other colours - just see the video 'around antwerp 9'
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 i tryed the rolands but found they wasnt what i was looking for they was gd for a cross but not gd pure , so i moved them on , but i have a half bred roland in my stock loft which was a gd racer for me and i bred 8 out of him last year and still have all eight so it depends what your looking for them to do
