I have been training my birds 7 miles twice a day for about 5 weeks now, to be fair after a couple of tosses they were doing what they should be doing, heading straight for home and covering a mile a minute........right do members of the site think this is far enough, our fed races 85 mile 1st race and had approx 7000 birds coming upto a relatively small area......in past years I train 17 mile but with the ever increaing diesel prices and simply time I have stopped at 7 mile only.....what are your thought's and experiences please ?

myself personally would like to get them out to at least 30 miles before the first race, and then in an ideal world, the 7 miles twice daily would be brillant as they will soon know the route to homeand would have a direct line, as from about the 12-15 miles away from home is where the real racing begins i can only seeing it being beneficial especially sprint wise.

One of the best partnerships ever in the N.L'Pool fed trains the same way old and ybirds. After the first few tosses they are then let go in 4's.For peace of mind a 30mls toss would do no harm but is not really necessary(just my opinion)

Over all, and this is / has been tried and tested, 20 miles every day is great.

Yet though I know this only, I am happy this season - though I lost a little bottle, and it took two chucks to get to 20 miles. i usually start them off at 35 miles. Will pop in now a couple of 45 milers, then it will be just 20 miles any direction every day. JMO
