geordie1234 Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 CHEERS MATE IM GOING TO GIVE THEM 3/4 OF THERE NORMAL AMOUNT WHEN THEY COME IN TOMORROW AND SEE HOW IT GOES
JohnQuinn Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 Its no an Instant cure George but persevere for a week or two until they have all had a wee taste of hunger. Mind the ones who mess you about don't get a bean that night, its very important they don't as this is exactly what will condition them into behaving the way you want them to.
frank-123 Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 I know the script regards feeding but this isnt the reason for what happened today. Im not a novice and ive won more 1st prizes with ybs than anybody in my area so , the feeding thing isnt the issue. Something spooking the birds as they are shying from loft . you had a look in the mirror maybe a mask ! would help
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 [quote name='Delboy' date='20 July 2010 - 15:43 PM' Its a bast... when it happens m8, isnt it. Cheers It most certainly is!! You can have the best trapping doos in the world(mines have always been fairly decent)but if a sparrowhen strikes them or their pals off the landing board a few times they soon lose confidence

Delboy Posted July 20, 2010 Author Report Posted July 20, 2010 I disagree with the view that something has frightened them to the extent that they are landing on roofs to avoid the loft. The Hawk has hit mine twice this year and after 40/50 mins they returned to the loft. The 2nd time it pinned one of them but i was right there and it bolted, the fox is visiting regular because i can smell it in this damp weather and i stung a Tam cat way the .22 about a week ago when it was sitting looking in at ma Yb's.They don't play up every time i let them out, they fly, land on the loft, and pick around the garden for a few minutes before i shout them in. Its bad management that has caused this and only good management will sort it, JM(STRONG)O!! Ye cannae control hawks, every other day there is an imprint of a pigeon flying into my bedroom window as it fleas the *expletive removed*. Also,as I already said, the amount of *expletive removed* cats around me at present is unbelievable.Talk about bad management to somebody that doesnt know the score, ive had these problems since I moved to this address. The lofts are surrounded with trees and gardens and are an easy target for any predator. This is the first time my ybs have landed on a building so far away from loft after training.Mind ye, my bird from Ypres done the same this year, which was right out of character for her.Do you think I should half my national birds feed to get them trapping
Delboy Posted July 20, 2010 Author Report Posted July 20, 2010 you had a look in the mirror maybe a mask ! would help You know im a right good looking c... Frankie
frank-123 Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 You know im a right good looking c... Frankie :D well craig thank *expletive removed* never took your looks
JohnQuinn Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 No i don't Derek, not at all. But i think part of my management is keeping as many predators away from me as possible, if a cat is about i get rid of it, if its a fox i get rid of it and if its flying i set a trap for it and get rid of it. I'm feckin sure i'm no gonna work ma Ass off then let an outside influence of ANY kind disrupt my birds. I see it as my RESPOSIBILITY to my doos to get rid of EVERYTHING that upsets them, and i don't rest 'til its done!!I absolutely believe the answer to all fanciers problems with the doos is in the mirror, have always believed that and always will. I wasn't trying to be smart, in fact i never seen that it was your thread until i responded to it, so i wrote what i honestly believe to be the answer to the problem. :D

bullcock Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 Delboy on a serious note could it be "squirrels",a few days ago my young birds just went up as if a hawk went into them and I went around the back of the loft and a squirrel was running across the fence, they were a bit edgy after that but settled the next day, only a suggestion, you will know if there are squirrels around your place.Hope you solve the problem.
