sapper756 Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 I have had 2 youngsters lately flying into the neighbours windows and dying as a result, something is certainly scaring them, I have seen the sparrowhawk down the local park about 100 yards away, and also have a great deal of carrion crows hanging abouthttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif Will have to be more vigilant when letting them out, but I guess it.s just yet another hazzard we have to put up withhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 Aye I've heard a lot of people talking about the hawk attacks starting again recently Mine were spooked by a very low flying small plane the other day-they went everywhere with everybody training aswell just now the later bred ones are getting dragged about all over the place-must've had 150 doos circling over my bit last week.
Guest IB Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 My youngsters seem to skelp into my house windows every other day - but only since I started cleaning our windows again. I don't think its anything to do with being scared, in certain light the glass becomes invisible and then looks like an opening into the building.

rasbull Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 I had a similar problem when my young ones were first going out. Twice youngsters flew into the windows and found one hiding my my store shed! I finally discovered it was crows chasing them. They were reaching out to grab them and the youngsters were just escaping capture by any means they could! Needless to say the days of that crow hunting my birds are sadly over as I have retired him! :)
