Found - Racing Pigeon - Southampton

Hi ... i have a racing pigeon who has taken up residence in my garden over the past week. It has a ring on both legs (one red one green) and is in healthy condition. I have fresh water and food to hand each day but i'm having trouble catching the bird in a bid to identify it! any tips? I'm a tad worried as my neighbours cat keeps stalking it and spooking it! how do i catch/contain the bird without stressing it out?? would love to reunite it with its owner whilst it is still in a good condition. please advise and help me get this bird back home. many thanks in advance!

maybe starts gb-09 * 12345 or su 08-k 12345

 

open a garden shed if you have one and give some dry rice or lentils in a bowl if it is hungry it will follow the food but let it see you put the food slowly in the bowl back off hopefully it will start eating the food just close the door

it will be easier to catch in the dark

hi thank you for feeding and watering the bird, if you are unable to catch it just feed it for a couple of days then stop and it will go on its way or it will be easier to catch when hungry.

UPDATE - bird contained and number is GB08 B16116 - i have it in the outhouse under a large washing basket so that it has plenty light and also has water and food! i can be contacted either on blackwidowtattoos07@googlemail.com or on 07799105011 instantly.

hi many thanks .. have also emailed the addy above as Jill wasn't sure that the bird belonged to her or if it was hers it had been missing for some time. i am hoping very soon to have this birdie away as i know nothing about keeping them, and as much time as it had to move it it has chosen not to! fingers crossed and will update as it happens. many many thanks to you guys for the advice and info ....
