Blakes loft window sills

In my yb section ive got space for 36 ybs, and currently have 8 in the section and 4 of them have decided they'd rather perch on top of the window sill frame and door runners.

Ive decided to try and block the space off with newspaper pinned up and hopeing they decide the perches are better.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how they've solved it?

I asume they are very young and just starting to perch,if so just leave them and they'll soon decide that the top perches are the safest and make for them.

A little theory of mine whether right or wrong is that certain pigeons take certain perches, number your perches and keep a record of which bird roost where,do the same next season and see if the same number perches are your best youngens.

Well i can see 2 reasons

1. They may loose there toes on the sliding door

2. I dont want them damaging their feathering

They shouldnt damage their feathers  (mine never have) and if they are sat right on the runners just put a small shelf above them to sit on.

They will perch wherever they feel safest!

If for some reason they feel safer ontop of the door runners either something has disturbed them of they are just not comfortable on your perches.

the clever ones will always find a better place to perch where there happy, let them be if its only causing you a problem, live with it and let the birds bond to there loft
