Guest joshdonlan Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 In my yb section ive got space for 36 ybs, and currently have 8 in the section and 4 of them have decided they'd rather perch on top of the window sill frame and door runners. Ive decided to try and block the space off with newspaper pinned up and hopeing they decide the perches are better. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how they've solved it?
Guest cloudview Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 yuo will have to make a pelmet josh , like curtains used to be behind
pigeons widow Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 Josh we have a few that do it, Dave has covered the runners with plywood. The pigeons will naturally perch at the highest point.
greenlands Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 I asume they are very young and just starting to perch,if so just leave them and they'll soon decide that the top perches are the safest and make for them. A little theory of mine whether right or wrong is that certain pigeons take certain perches, number your perches and keep a record of which bird roost where,do the same next season and see if the same number perches are your best youngens.
Guest mick bowler Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 What difference does it make to where they perch as long as they happy.

I dont want them damaging their feathering They shouldnt damage their feathers (mine never have) and if they are sat right on the runners just put a small shelf above them to sit on.

pjc Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 They will perch wherever they feel safest! If for some reason they feel safer ontop of the door runners either something has disturbed them of they are just not comfortable on your perches.
greenlands Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 The pigeon in yer photo is it a kirkpatrick? No Camphius Janssen bred by Darren Peters.
