at what age and how much do members basket train their young birds before training, and methods,

[/quote

we start about 2 weeks before we want to train them, they are left in overnight and fed and watered in the basket and in the second week we start to release them from the basket in the yard and then start training,up till now we have had 4 tosses, 3 at 10 miles and 1 at about 30 so for the next couple of weeks till racing starts they will move to Stone which is about 40 miles and they will go as often as the trainer goes.

Mine go in the basket from the day I put them into their own section.I have a 25 bird basket in the loft at all times, saying that the I remove it when I put my two training baskets in.The youngens get a handfull of rape seed thrown into the basket and have no fear of it from the start. When they start to perch the front is closed.I turn it round to put drinkers on and remove their normal drinker.

When the birds are out exercising I put the training baskets where the other basket is and put shutters up athe the window and doors, makes life easier when basketing for a training toss.
