Guest joshdonlan Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 I always enjoy reading the Braspenning articles in the BHW. This week he mentions that he uses a cup full of cider vinegar to 2 litres. Many fanciers over hear have told me to use 5 mls approx or a cap lid full. Is this enough? Opinions please

Opinions please i've been using Cider Vinegar for 5 years now i give them 3 5mls to 2 or 3 litres of water twice a week and my doos seem to be fine,i've even heard of people giving it every day.

pigeonman007 Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 I have been giving mine 10ml per litre 3 or 4 days a week. They seem to be ok on it
blaz Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 it might be a miss print a cap full insted of a cup full
kev01293 Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 i give a teaspoonful to 2 litres of water 2-3 days a week and my birds look good on it i buy apple cider vinegar from a health food shop and never had any probs healthwise since using it is there any difference between apple cider vinegar and cider vinegar? kev
sapper756 Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 I add a cap full to a 2 litre drinkerhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif
OLDYELLOW Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 i'd go with the spelling mistake capfull seems more reasonable think as cup full be far too acid fer birds anyway and surely a cup would be nigh on a full bottle
Guest IB Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 Braspenning articles in the BHW suffer from both spelling mistakes and mistakes in translation. For example, once read in one of these articles that 'the pigeon's ears should stand up straight'. So it might be a mix-up between cupful and capful right enough. In my opinion, you really need to be careful with measurements. Cupful, capful and handful really mean nothing as each comes in different sizes, so you don't really know how much you are giving. Advice on the forum over the years for giving Vinegars has always been 5ml per litre of drinking water. In my opinion, that's a good example of the type of accurate measurement we should use.

Very true IB. the same goes for measuring any powder,a set of gm.scales would be a good buy, rather than a teaspoon of whatever.Even teaspoons aren't the same size.Lindsay.
