I think 16 Widowhood cocks would be pushing it slightly in an 8x6ft would be more inclined to try 12 but just my opinion.

 

How many young birds were you thinking of?

SORRY MATE I MENT ONE 12X6 FOR THE 16 WIDOWERS THEN IN THE OTHER 12X6 SPLIT IT INTO 2 SECTIONS ONE 8X6 FOR YOUNGSTERS THEN A FOUR FOOT SECTION FOR THE HENS

its hard to tell exacally geo how many per loft as how good the ventilation is there really is no set rules but get two experienced doo men in and they wont be long sorting you out i never like to get a strong smell of pigeons in a loft is the best advice i can give

Just realised the house I'm buying has a close to get to the back garden and I'm not sure I'm my lofts will get through it anyone know the standard size of a close on a council built house hahahahh

dont put widowhood cocks in same loft as young birds or hens they dont rest properly weve got 36x8 for cocks 36x8 for young birds 18x8 for hens the hens trap into widowhood loft on race days jmo

They aren't getting put in the same they are getting one 12x6 loft to thersels

geo ur first year would fly natural then put all yung birds in 12x6 to give them plenty room

geo forget that natural flyin , get straight onto widowhood lot easier than natural , u fly natural against widowhood ull be in tears ,ull be beaten hands down

leave ya hens 4 now , walk 1st dont run, u will have enough 2 work on with just cocks , train ya hens up , next year get them over the water

Watched this dilemna unfold the last couple of days :lol:

 

Widowhood and natural both have there pros and cons and there are some of the finest widowhood and natural fliers in the country active on PB who I'm sure would be more than willing to help you.

Understandably you'll be raring to go but if I was in your shoes the man I'd be asking about getting your feet on the ground is Jim Cullen!! :)I'm lead to believe your pretty pally with him :P
