Guest bakes Posted August 6, 2010 Report Posted August 6, 2010 Can someone explain the natural method as I think this will be the way I will fly until I gain knowledge in the sport is it basically just kepping the oldbirds together and not splitting them send an pm to gary cairns aka blaz on here he flys a good team of birds on the natural system he has had some cracking performances raceing natural.

gulkie Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 I aint heard you mention grit make sure they have it daily helps them digestthere food, that could be the reason they where on the road.they will also find more mineralsin the garden than you could ever give them, get them a couple of mole hillsleave it in the garden and watch them devour it.good luck.a great word observation.GEO wullie g

geordie1234 Posted August 11, 2010 Author Report Posted August 11, 2010 No mate my only concern is they have been held back a bit with the younger ones they only been flying for an half hour recently as the younger ones are pulling them back
jonl6280 Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 No mate my only concern is they have been held back a bit with the younger ones they only been flying for an half hour recently as the younger ones are pulling them back well did you train them??
geordie1234 Posted August 11, 2010 Author Report Posted August 11, 2010 A was going to then the weather didn't look to great want to give it a go tomorrow but do you think it will be okay if they have already been out with the other ones in the morning even if its only a 30 mins fly about that's all the younger ones a capable of just now
geordie1234 Posted August 11, 2010 Author Report Posted August 11, 2010 Cool six o'clock tomorrow morning I'm off wae them many mile you reckon five
frank-123 Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 if there is none squeaking get them all to lesmahagow 15-17 mile as long as they are all disapearing when you let them out in the morning and racing up and down the sky when they return as a batch
geordie1234 Posted August 11, 2010 Author Report Posted August 11, 2010 See only about 16 of them are going up together and disappearing and the other ones are just farting about just now and still squeking maybe I'm better waiting until they are all up and going well then I can take the lot a good distance because if a train some the now then I will be training them all different distances
jonl6280 Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 its your choice, but we took our first round of young birds to abington services around 22 miles, all home but you do what you feel best mate people say five miles is a waste of time .. i have done it in the past good luck john
JohnQuinn Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 See only about 16 of them are going up together and disappearing and the other ones are just farting about just now and still squeking maybe I'm better waiting until they are all up and going well then I can take the lot a good distance because if a train some the now then I will be training them all different distances There is no need to take them any real distance George and the ones who are younger will slot in easily with the older ones in the training basket. If you start the older ones the now just go 15/20 miles with them, its enough believe me. The younger ones will do it easily when they are on the wing properly. jmo
geordie1234 Posted August 11, 2010 Author Report Posted August 11, 2010 So what you saying john just leave the younger squekers and take the rest mate
jonl6280 Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 if the older ones are now holding the younger ones from roaming then yes there ready, and it depends what youre planning for them? are you sending them to the last comback race? or are you just training them this year?
geordie1234 Posted August 11, 2010 Author Report Posted August 11, 2010 if the older ones are now holding the younger ones from roaming then yes there ready, and it depends what youre planning for them? are you sending them to the last comback race? or are you just training them this year?I'm only training them for this year I'm not racing
JohnQuinn Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 So what you saying john just leave the younger squekers and take the rest mate Aye, if they are ready why not, just keep the older ones close enough to home for the younger ones to catch up. Personally i wouldn't train them this year at all if i were you, your just getting started and make no mistake you will lose some training them and i'm no sure you can afford to lose say 20/25% of what you have just now, JMO mate i know how keen you are to get them on the road but patience is your best friend just now
blaz Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 as you can see we all do things a bit different. you are not going to race birds this year so why hurry to train them. i would wait till all birds are flying well and ranging.then i would take them 10 mile .would train 3x 10 mile 1st week 3 x 15 mile next again week .then 3x20 mile next again week.then thats as much as i would do with them this year.making sure i picked my days to train o.m.o
