Sea Eagles/ Suffolk

Just heard on this mornings news that the planned introduction of Sea Eagles to Suffolk has been put on hold, The RSPB are unhappy with this decision.

eagles are not agile enough to prey on racing pigeons, hawks and falcons are.

most eagles take larger sized prey like lambs/dogs/and small deer.

maybe 1-2 other species.

the news this morning was exactly how they see us pigeon fanciers..as not important..they listened to pig farmers and chicken farms that the birds released in that area would affect their animals...not by killing them to eat but because they might frighten them...double standards me thinks.

i think the reason it is drop is down to cash.they still want to go ahead with it

i live right on the suffolk coast all the farmers and a lot of other folk including me pettitioned our local mp as u prob know our area is full of cattle farmers and pig farmers they told them that they may as well pack up if sea eagles were introduced they where listened to unlike us pigeon fanciers with our bop probs

Just recently watched a Sea Eagle take a Seagull right out the sky, though i would agree they aren't agile enough to catch doos. They'll frighten the life out of them right enough :angry:

if could be imprinted to eat guls wouldnt be a bad thing theres plenty of them about

Reason this is not goin ahead is cos Historic England have pulled the plug on the cash not cos of who they have or have not listened to. When have the RSPB ever listened to anyone?

were coming to my part of the world as well. natural england has pulled out due to cash shortage. originaaly the rspb went into local town and asked people a 'leading question'.....'would you like to see sea eagles re-introduced ?'...which of course most said 'yes'. until now the advice to farmers was to erect polytunnels to protect young animals and construct stronger fencing to stop possible stampedes

Thing is its Suffolk today the rest of Britain tomorrow were only a small island. A few years down the line and anyone living on or near the coast will be affected. Eagles a big bird no natural predators !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Think that that is nearer the truth. Can't invest if the losses were overwhelming .... Not saying that poison would or would be used at the offsett. think in toay's climate that that has also has to be took into account.
