Flying young birds is one thing, however flying old birds, now thats a completely different game, also this year your birds will be up against experienced 2yr, 3yr, 4yr olds.

Be patient m8, remember they are only yearlings and still learninghttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

patience is the name of the game have a system of feeding and exercise and DO NOT chop and change the birds are still learning

definitely a big difference flying yb,s than ob,s,,

flying old birds in my opinion is a patience game, after all their old birds for a good few years, ,in fact many years if managed correctly,

young birds are racing in the height of the summer,

but with old birds , their racing starts early april for some,

, in my experience many yearlings are trained well b4 this, often in march, at this time there many cold east winds, this can often finnish them for the season, knock the stuffing out of them,

, i have noted that yearlings come into natural form in the middle of may, if not started too early,, i would rather send a yearling 100 even 150 miles with just a few short trainers, in good weather, than repeat sending them too often and too early, in cold winds and low temps to shorter distances.

when they come into this natural form, they will take some beating , last longer in the season, make better two year olds and onwards,

I've had a rubbish season so far too, same thing as the others 5-10 minutes off the pace, no health problems. They had a hard race on Sunday, lost five so I'm thinking of giving them a break this week as it's the same race point, what do others think?

in my opinion a rest would do them no harm, especially with the abnormal cold weather weve been having,, the temperatures are set to rise soon, then hopefully the birds would benefit from this rest, so hopefully condition themselves better, good luck, i hope they improve for you

Are your birds really healthy , have you had em tested , be honest with yor self are they good enough for the job , are they being managed correctly , and are they fit enough ,

all valid questions but always get there health checked out first then you can take it from there ,

all the best , if you need any help with testing for problems p m me
