Guest marvin Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 until 31st may we are not allowed to race continental where after defra will make a decission as to if we can go across the channel. looks like only inland racing at the moment. french have not banned us as yet however even if defra allow after 31st may french may still stop us you know what they are like. a big thanks to Mr Bryant I think as without the hard work he has put in there would be no racing or shows. he is still trying to get defra to bring the decission forward so channel racing can go ahead.
Guest Posted January 15, 2006 Report Posted January 15, 2006 Our club has been told the UNC will be racing from Belgium, unless anything else crops up with regards the Bird flu.
Guest marvin Posted January 15, 2006 Report Posted January 15, 2006 just heard last night that a man from belgium has come back from turkey with susspected bird flu dont know how true this is as yet but it kind of makes you think i was told he wasnt a pigeon flyer we will see if theres anything in the news a bit close to home for my liking if this is true
Guest Posted January 15, 2006 Report Posted January 15, 2006 this was a false alarm check the bird flu section on here speight put a link on it
Guest Posted January 15, 2006 Report Posted January 15, 2006 I GOT FUNNY IDEA WAY THINGS ARE GOING ITS GOING TO BE YES/NO ALL THE WAY UPTO RACING NO ONE KNOWS WHAT TOMORROW IS GOING TO BRING Agree, Rose. Powers-that-be reckon March / April are the highest risk months. Humble opinion: Expect scares and near things right up to race time. It'll be steely nerves rule for the next few months.

Guest Posted January 16, 2006 Report Posted January 16, 2006 Sbelbin, Mr Snaith says there is Up North Combine meeting today about the race programme, he'll let me know if there will be channel or not.............. We have not heard anything about Belgium.......................................but there is no chance for racing over the water is it? Stephen Our club has been told the UNC will be racing from Belgium, unless anything else crops up with regards the Bird flu.
Guest Posted January 16, 2006 Report Posted January 16, 2006 Our secretary was out drinking with Steve Proffit and he said it would be belgium, but as people have posted, we probably wont know even up to racing how it will fully effect us. Im just going to prepare my birds as if it was all normal and if it all changes then I think that will be the time to worry. I hope they do race from Belgium though as my birds did really well from there when we had the foot and mouth about.
swilcox Posted January 16, 2006 Report Posted January 16, 2006 The belguim reports are not true!!!! Stuart Wilcox
Guest Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 I dont know how true they are, as there are a lot of rumours flying about, but this is from the mouth of our convoyer, and he said it looks like being belgium with Brussels and Liege being two of the race points. Dont take this as fact though as a lot could and probably will happen over the next few months.
Guest Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 Sbeblin, our UNC had AGM Meeting about race programme and channel. waiting for Mr Snaith to send me a pm to see what';s happening for the channel racing. have you heard anything from your sec federation ?
Guest Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 Only what ive posted B4 Craig, but like I say I wouldn't take it as fact. Thinking about it, I should have kept this info. to myself as it maybe a case of chinese wispers. Im just going to prepare my birds as normal and whatever happens, happens!!
Guest Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 Sbelbin, I meant the UNC AGM had a meeting last night about the DEFRA, Channel and Race programme, have you heard anything yet from your Federation SEC yet about last night at the UNC AGM Meeting? Waiting for Mr Snaith to send me a pm or post the information about the race programme, on the Combine site,
Guest Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 Got ya, no I wont see our club sec. until the weekend now, let me know what you find out though. Cheers Stephen.
Guest speckled Posted January 18, 2006 Report Posted January 18, 2006 Well thay have change our programme for the old bird season, Not going to race over the channel in , France. So instead we are having, 6 races out of Gurnsey, Exeter.Seaton, but thats all i have heard.Speckled.
richard Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 Hi Speckled I knew that the Solent Fed had come up with an alternative program, but I didn't realise that at this early stage they had decided to implement it. Is that correct? I hope not as it doecn't seem to be much of a program to me, especially with the alleged serious peregrine problem in the West Country. Personally I would rather turn North than West. Any thoughts? Rose, why do you think that the French will ban racing until June 7th? Cheers Richard
Mike Lycett Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 The Belgians are going into Germany because the French have stopped them. UK organisations had better plan contingency prograames right NOW if they hadn't done before Mike
Mike Lycett Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 Well.... Its from a very reputable source Rose - one that would certainly know Mike
AlanWilkins Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 Isnt the best idea just give the channel neck for 1 season and let the bird flu clear. I would say if Mike Lycett says it then its set in stone thats its right.
westburylofts Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 Have not had any infomation down here yet about race programes but it looks as if we might have to settle for inland only. but as they say time will tell, and wait and see. ray
Pompey Mick Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 I think the Solent Fed has had to act early because it is probably the most affected Fed when it comes to Continental racing restrictions. We were due to start racing from France on 22nd April with six channel races scheduled before the end of May. The emergency programme would have been bought in in the hope that there will be some OB channel racing when the fed will revert to the original race programme. Personally I would have like to have seen a decent North Rd programme and I think it might have been considered if we had a total ban on channel racing as we had in 1983 when the Solent successfully raced a full Old & YB season. But I can see the reasoning behind this temporary programme when we still have a chance of channel racing. Has anyone got a copy of the revised Solent Fed programme ?
Mike Lycett Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 Rose Until the French definiely say "non" to the UK there's always a chance.. My post above was in relation to the Belgians. The MCC are already looking at other things.
Mike Lycett Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 Probably a little bit of both Rose !
PIGEON_MAN Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 WE MAY NOT HAVE A DEFINATE ANSWEAR UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE BUT CAN ORGANISATOINS WAIT THAT LONG,FANCIERS WANT TO KNOW WHERE THEY ARE GOING ALSO TRANSPORT NEEDS TO BE BOOKED IN ADVANCE,ALSO RACE POINTS NEED TO BE BOOKED.TALKING TO SOMEONE WHO IS DEFINATELY IN THE KNOW AT BLACKPOOL WAS TOLD THAT THE N.F.C. ARE ALLREADY DRAWING UP MAPS E.T.C.FROM THURSO AND OTHER NORTH RACEPOINTS TO SEE THE SOUGHT OF DISTANCES THAT CAN BE FLOWN TO MEMBERS DOWN SOUTH.I SAY LETS MAKE THE DECISION NOW SO THAT MEMBERS KNOW WHERE THEY ARE GOING,AT LEAST WE CAN GET SOME DISTANCE BY GOING NORTH IF ONLY FOR THIS YEAR,THEN HOPEFULLY THINGS WILL HAVE DIED DOWN BY THE START OF NEXT SEASON.
peterpau Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 EU don't meet till June to discuss avian flu so no racing from continent likely till June but the channel isles are still British isles. However I would still rather go north than go down into Cornwall
