Guest shadow Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 IF it was airborn why did it not spread like wildfire in the areas it has been found, yes it is spreading but only in isolated pockets which implies it is spread on contact with infected birds. We have to think positive unless the worst happensand it arrives in the UK. Then it will be a 10Kl exclusion zone arround the infected sites
Guest Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 As for bruno`s suggestion "it`s not airborn",who says so? it will mutate to airborne ,maybe a day,a week,a month, but it will, anyone disagree? Not MY suggestion, simply reporting scientific opinion (evidence-based) that spread of Avian flu needs direct contact with an infected source. You have still not posted one shred of evidence for ANYTHING you have said about avian flu, racing pigeons, Europe or how it might affect the UK.
T_T Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 We should leave it to those that know much better than we do. Until I hear otherwise, come the 27/3, I shall be down the road like a long dog with a pannier of widow cocks in the car. HAPPY RACING TO ALL.
jimmy white Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 ;D ;D doom and gloom tigerpomfret, theres a very serious post for avian flu, on this forum, we all know how serious this is, ,if you have alook at that post youll see all the facts, not the maybes, this post has brought a bit lightheartedness and a smile, something some of us would be better" catching"if we cant have a little humour, god help us all.,,,fact, theres no evidence its in the uk, fact,, racing is still planned., and just remember TODAY,IS THE TOMORROW, YOU WORRIED ABOUT YESTERDAY, ;D ;D
ribble Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 (evidence-based) that spread of Avian flu needs direct contact with an infected source. did the turkey's in france not get it of straw??they had been shut up.

Yes, 'heard' that too. Don't know if the straw was in the turkey shed, or how it got contaminated. Still waiting for the report on that outbreak to be published. Slight problemmo though, every country reports to the OIE in English, EXCEPT France, so a lot might get lost in the translation.

Diamond dave Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 Tigerpomfret Mate we all have opinions but I think your out of order with your statement about Peter Bryant - my opinion is that he is doing a sterling job on behalf of all fanciers. I think yours is a narrow minded opinion if you think he doesnt represent the whole of the fancy
tigerpomfret Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 Hello d-d, If we, The RPRA had closed up shop all winter, till the kickoff around late march for training,it would have looked good on us pigeon boys, all racers locked up,but no just carry on shipping birds all over the place, now,we will get the blame for outbreaks,by the press, you wait and see, just to keep the sellers/dealers happy, bryant has sacrificed the whole pigeon wide country, just to brown nose the advertisers, typical, just typical, makes me sick.
Diamond dave Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 Tiger Like I said mate - youre entitled to your opinion - I just happen to think yours is "blinkered". The reason we've all carried on as normal is because we havent got got bird flu yet!!! I for one am pleased with the stance that the RPRA has taken and in particular Peter Bryants handling of the problem. I do think the PR to joe public could be better but lets face it, up until the reports in France, this was another joke which was never going to touch us (I'm sure you remember SARS). Now its too close for comfort and rest assured mate - wed have got the blame what ever happens!!!!
Guest Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 Mr. Tigerpomfret, I am a little confusted by your "Logic" You accuse Mr. Bryant's wheel being greased by the Pigeon sellers etc to protect their interests, BUT FOR WHAT, if the Sport is closed down due to avian influenze who are they going to sell their birds too, WELL ??????????????????????
Guest Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 who are you and where are you from tigerpomfret?
