DRIES Posted May 24, 2006 Author Report Posted May 24, 2006 That or lack of support Richard how many birds went to last weeks race any idea just over a 1000
THE FIFER Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 I DO NOT THINK THE SHU BEING THERE WOULD HAVE MADE ANY DIFFERENCE, I BELIEVE THE SHU DEAL WITH THE SCOTTISH EXECUTIVE, AND WHATEVER DEFRA DECIDES WILL BE IT,
Guest Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 archie hes just trying to stir the sh** again, anything to have a go at the SHU
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 Where do the Solent Fed go from here? These knee-jerk reactions by a very small committee are no good to anyone. My members were looking for the Fed to re-organise the North road programme because of the limited mileage so far, not abandon it altogether. It looks as if we are now looking at 200mls max. I hope members have got plenty of room for the young birds after the season ends. JUST KEEP SENDING YOUR BIRDS UP HERE AND YOU WILL HAVE PLENTY OF ROOM FOR YOUR YOUNG BIRDS
Chris Little Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 archie hes just trying to stir the sh** again, anything to have a go at the SHU Absolute nonsense Clockman , I am deeply concerned about the situation as the thought of no channel racing will make our season worthless, I am sure that is the case for most fanciers who love national racing. Being a member of the SHU I am aggreived at the lack of representation at these important meetings. So forget the stupid and meaningless comments as to me trying to stir things up, I just want to know where we all stand. If you want to jump on your political soapbox do it elsewhere , this thread is about French racing prospects..... nothing else
Guest Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 Isn't it a political soap box that we are all involved with? Its not the French Racing Union or the French Government that's keeping us penned at home, its the UK Government. We in Scotland have a devolved government and any lobbying is done there, not in London. If we can get MSPs and Scottish Exec on our side, then they in turn can lobby Westminster. Reckon Westminster will listen to Holyrood long before RPRA or any other Homing Union. And agree 100% with Rose. Not good enough in 21st century to be told you're not doing something ... without the why. Have posted repeatedly ... where's the bloody evidence, the risk assessment, the why's and whatnots that helped DEFRA decide we race pigeons at home only? And remember home still excludes the Channel Islands.
jimmy_bulger Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 hi all, i dont want to p*ss on all your bonfires but there has been a serious outbreak of bird flue in romania that has passed from human to human. its unconfirmed as yet but has been reported on cnn news and a lot of people have been put in quarantine. you can get more info on the world health organization site ,if this is true there will be no cross channel racing for a while yet.
peterpau Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 This virus will come back so what are you going to do if we don't get to France. Every body seems to think we will go at somepoint. Can someone tell me why. Yes I'd like to go Tarbes etc, but realisticaly, this year?
square_peg Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 IF WE ALL THINK BACK TO WINTER TIME,NEARLY EVERYBODY I SPOKE TO HOPED THAT THEY WOULD GET SOME KIND OF RACING,EVEN INLAND ONLY HOPEFULLY JUST FOR ONE SEASON.IT NOW LOOKS LIKE THIS IS THE CASE ,DISAPOINTED,FED UP,SICK,P**SED OFF YEAH ALL OF THESE , IF ONLY THE POWERS THAT BE WERE MORE OPEN AND HONEST WE ALL WOULD FEEL A LOT HAPPIER.BUT ITS LIKE THE BLOODY SECRET SERVICE TRYING TO FIND OUT ANYTHING.I THINK WE JUST HAVE TO GRIN AND GET ON WITH A BAD JOB,AND,ALL BEING WELL GET CHANELL RACING NEXT SEASON NO I DONT WANT INLAND ONLY. WOULD I TAKE THAT OR NO RACING NO CONTEST REALLY IS THERE
Henrik Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 If Defra aint gonna make a decision till Mid June doesent leave much time to book ferries and get permits for a race on the 30th June does it.
peterpau Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 Hey Tammy hope you're right cos some of us want to test our pigeons not just take the easy way out
Guest Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 hi all, i dont want to p*ss on all your bonfires but there has been a serious outbreak of bird flue in romania that has passed from human to human. its unconfirmed as yet but has been reported on cnn news and a lot of people have been put in quarantine. you can get more info on the world health organization site ,if this is true there will be no cross channel racing for a while yet. Think you should maybe have checked the WHO site before you posted this peice of trash. There has never been a case of human H5N1 infection in Romania. Turkey is the only country in Europe to have had human H5N1 infection and that outbreak ended at the end of January 06. What there has been is another 'possible' human-to-human transmission in Indonesia, South East Asia. This changes nothing - there have been previous reports of 'possible' human-to-human transmissions, and the research on the current case (one family) still shows the virus hasn't mutated. Frankly the information you have posted puts new perspective on what we are talking about in this thread, which in case everybody's forgotten, is that pigeons have been confined to racing within the UK because of DEFRA's fears that they'll bring H5N1 back from mainland Europe . This 'new info' shows that there is more chance of a human bringing in H5N1 than a racing pigeon ...
Guest Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 I saw the report on CNN and they quoted that 6 members of one family had died from H51N, they suspect it was human to human contact but this was in Indonesia notRomania
THE FIFER Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 IF UR A MEMBER OF THE SHU CHRIS AND WANT AN ANSWER WHY THEY WERE NOT AT LONDON,THEN ASK THEM,
