same here last year 1 lost an hen that flew 536 miles on the day onli bird home on day frm a 25 mile trainin. but t day i have lost the best pigeon in my shed frm trainin he,d 6*1st + 2*1st fed 4000+birds i am guttered

This is one i can relate to ::)Took all my young birds for there 1st toss 6 or 7 years ago only took them to Sthrathclyde country park(roughly 2 miles away).40 young birds and 1 old bird that had flown most races for the previous 3 years and slept out once at Sartilly when he came the next day!Result 40 young birds home when i got back to the loft and still to this day no old bird ::) ::):( :( Needless to say i have never took another old bird when training my young birds ;)

yeah mate it happens.when i was racing back home with my dad we had a cock bird that have flown the chanel.at the start of the old bird season we trained him on the 20 mile toss piont we lost him never to be seen again.but it happens could have hit a wire got shot or a hawk.gutterd we were.
