pigeonpete Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Hi all, as most of you know i lost majority of my ybs about 3 weeks ago, anyway went down loft yesterday morning, and 1 of my 7 year old sons favorites was back!!! a belgian red pied cock!! so i went to catch him, to check him over!!! :o :o :o :'( :'( and to my horror some barsteward had cut his ring off and made a right mess of his leg, so firstly why would someone do this??? the bird was stamped on both wings, if they had only called me up, i would have glady let them keep it if need be!! so this pigeon has made its own way home after 3 weeks! and apart from his leg is in a1 condition!! but now useless for racing, these people should be banned from the sport :'( :'( ??) ??) ??) ??) ??)
cemetary Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 No reason to cut the birds ring off what so ever, the bloody bird dosent belong to them, and the other thing is the bird was wing stamped on both wings, why they didnt contact the owner we will never no, if any one nows who the culprit is should report them, and get them flung out the sport, you are a disgrace to the sport. Imagine doing this to one of the kids favourite pigeon, if you are the person responsible for this all i can say is you are just a GOB S...E Sorry to hear about you losing the majority of your birds pigeonpete.
Guest jason Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Pete, the exact same thing happened to my neighbour last week he lost 6 and got one back with its ring cut off.! it really is disgusting. > jason
GREENGRASS Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 makes you wonder how these people were brought up. cutting rings off young birds, needless killing of birds on allotments in liverpool and here in scotland stealing birds from a successful fancier, you sometimes ask youself why do we bother. pete the fact the bird has arrived in good condition after 3 weeks would lead me to think that some gutless bast**d has had him in liked the look of him and cut the ring off to hide his identity, maybe tried to break him in the hope of breeding from him. ask you club if you can send him as a trainer and see how he comes for you. all the best of luck to you.
keano Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 if who ever had the bird he only had to phone you to ask if he could keep it. makes me sick,
ACE LOFTS Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 the same thing happend to a good freind of mine
tony99 Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 i got 1 back what i lost with out its gold ring on
mealybar Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Makes me wonder if this actually fanciers at all; could it be a misguided animal rights person who doesn't agree with us racing our pigeons?
GREENGRASS Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 If it is they have a misguided sense of responsibility because unless the bird is really special and could be kept for stock you know where it will end up.
Guest shadow Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 This has been happening for years but there is no way round it, if people want the bird why not just ask as with the ring missing it is no use to anybody. Wish I could catch them I'd cut more than their ring off
Guest Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Happens all the time in the States, usually they just take the electronic band off but I know of one fancier who takes both, in one season I had one old bird and two young birds comeback ringless. We knew who was doing it but we could never prove it, if we could have I would have done a "Mrs Bobbett" on him. Richard, in our case it as a Sad Barsteward flier but I have also heard that Animal Rights activists do cut rings off in other parts of the Country
peterpau Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 My best stock hen came home minus her ring. Pig sick at the time, but did they do me a favour? I don't know but glad to have her. Just hope your cock turns out the same. Sometimes there realy is a silver lining in that cloud.
Chatrace Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 If you ever go to EClocks make sure you are there when they assign the chips to the bird. If the chip is someone elses it will say this band belongs to Joe Smo and you know the guy took it off a bird and is now trying to use it. Let them explain that :-)
pigeonpete Posted July 19, 2006 Author Report Posted July 19, 2006 Thanks for all your replys guys and girls!!, if it was animal right people, they done more harm to his leg than any thing , think its infected!! but he will be o.k, stuck him in some germoline!! ;D think a fancier has done this! was it because it was belgian rung do you think? :-/ someone has looked after him well!! >

MsPigeon Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 That is sad pigeonpete, but the longer that I am in this sport the more disgraceful things I see and hear about. It sure does not promote the sport!! Carol
