ALF Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 The Lanarkshire fed has started the young bird race progamme 2 weeks earlier this year and our clubs birdage was down over 300 birds in the 1st race. Now if every clubs birdage is down at the same average as mine this is a lot of money the fed is losing through lost birdage revenue : :
frank-123 Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 i think the fed made a mistake not having a two week break in between old and young bird racing the race last week had a poor turnout but i think this week they will be a lot more in the basket after some good training weather this week see you at the agm big man
PIGEON_MAN Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 HI ALF,NOT SURE HOW YOUR FED CHARGES THE CLUBS FOR TRANSPORTING THE BIRDS BUT OURS WORK THIS WAY,IF FOR INSTANCE IT COSTS THE FED £1000 TO TRANPORT THE BIRDS AND THE CLUBS SEND 1000 BIRDS THEN THE FED WOULD CHARGE EACH CLUB £1.00 PER PIGEON,IF THERE WAS 2000 BIRDS WENT THEN IT WOULD BE ONLY 50p PER PIGEON,SO DOESN,T MATTER HOW MANY GO THE FED NEVER LOOSES OUT IT IS THE CLUBS UNFORTUNATLY,ESPECIALLY IF THE CLUBS HAVE PERHAPS DECIDED TO SAY CHARGE 50p PER BIRD BEFOREHAND.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 WHY SHOULD TWO WEEK S EARLIER MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE TO THE BIRDAGE ? THE OLD BIRD RACING WAS PUT BACK TWO WEEKS TO TRY AND GET BETTER WEATHER FOR THE OLD BIRDS STARTING RACING AND THE YOUNG BIRDS WERE STARTED EARLIER FOR THE SAME REASONS WEATHERWISE. THE FED ONLY CHARGES 25p PER BIRD
Guest WINGS 04 Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 I WOULD NOT TRAIN MY BIRDS IN THE WEATHER WE HAVE HAD IN THE LAST WEEK AS IT HAS BEAN TO HOT FOR THEM AND IF THEY GOT HIT BY A HAWK AND MIET BE FLYING ALL DAY IN IT
ALF Posted July 20, 2006 Author Report Posted July 20, 2006 WHY SHOULD TWO WEEK S EARLIER MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE TO THE BIRDAGE ? THE OLD BIRD RACING WAS PUT BACK TWO WEEKS TO TRY AND GET BETTER WEATHER FOR THE OLD BIRDS STARTING RACING AND THE YOUNG BIRDS WERE STARTED EARLIER FOR THE SAME REASONS WEATHERWISE. THE FED ONLY CHARGES 25p PER BIRD Well 2 weeks earlier obviously has made a big difference here when you see how many birds we are down in our club alone. And i dont think that we will all be ready this week either as the van that trains our pigeons for the young bird racing only goes at the Glasgow fair, it meant a few people were'nt ready for the 1st race....and will be struggling for the 2nd race. And am sure there are a lot of other people who are not ready yet aswell.
Guest jason Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 only half our club members are ready for first y. bird race on saturday but our fed only charge 40p per bird regardless of how many go!
Guest WINGS 04 Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 GOING 2WEEK EARLIER IS NOT JUST HAPPEND IT WAS DONE THROUGH THE AGM AND WE ALL NEW THAT THE RACING STARTED IF YOU ARE NOT READY THAT IS THEIR ON FAULT NOT THE FEDS
mark Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 you have to remember two weeks earlier is 2 weeks less experience and 2 weeks less training,
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 EVERYBODY KNEW LAST YEAR SO BIRDS SHOULD HAVE BEEN BRED ACCORDINGLY IF IT MEANT BREEDING TWO WEEKS EARLIER THEY WOULD HAVE GOT THE SAME EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Guest WINGS 04 Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 TAM THAT IS WHAT WE DID WE BRED OR BIRDS 2 WEEKS EARLIE AND STARTED THEM 2 WEEK BEFOR WE WOULD HAVE DONE
ALF Posted July 20, 2006 Author Report Posted July 20, 2006 GOING 2WEEK EARLIER IS NOT JUST HAPPEND IT WAS DONE THROUGH THE AGM AND WE ALL NEW THAT THE RACING STARTED IF YOU ARE NOT READY THAT IS THEIR ON FAULT NOT THE FEDS Yes we all knew at the AGM Wings but it does not take away the fact that the Fed is losing money because of it....can we really afford to lose any???
Guest WINGS 04 Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 ALF I ALSO THINK THAT MEMBERS ARE TRYING TO BUILDING UP A TEAM WITH ALL THE LOSSES WE HAVE HAD SO I THINK THEY WILL BE TRANING WITH MAYBE ONLY 1 OR 2 RACE OF SOME OF THER BIRDS
ALF Posted July 20, 2006 Author Report Posted July 20, 2006 Well thats not whats happening in our club mate and i think if the returns are ok this week(when i dont think our club will have much more birds away than last week) there will be a lot more birds at the 3rd race when everybody who could'nt get training until the fair fortnight will be starting their young yins..
